shouldn't there be a rule about not changing the gameplay?

or is that allowed?

Doesn't that pretty much sum it up?

If anyone's thinking of adding sea routes or anything, then I would count that as changing borders. The term borders is refering to which territories border each other. I'm not sure I can explain it any more than that.

you did not say anything about starting neutrals bonus changes autto deployment, different bonuses for the number of terits.

there are plenty of gameply changes that can be done without altering the borders.

edit// also what about the missing connection Hua Phan <> Dien Bien Phu?

Anyone know how to resolve the 4-way border of Hue, Sekong, Salavan and Dong Hoi? Is there a specific reason why it should be changed one way or another?

it would suck for those not selected, wasting the mapmaker's time and effort!

Perhaps not, I'm thinking if someone doesn't think its worth their time and effort when there is a possibility their map won't be chosen then they shouldn't bother.

Yeah, and anyway, mapmakers like making maps (that's why they make them).

Rules revised to include no changes to gameplay and missing connections. 8)

You could either place an object on the four way border or move one of the borders slightly so there's a no longer the four-way.

I was referring to moving the borders, and I was just wondering if there is any historical or geographical significance as to why I should change it one way or another.

You could crash a spaceship on it.

OK, maybe not.

But it worked for me, anyway.

Change the goddamn colors! At least make them darker. I lost so many games on this map because I couldn't see the colors of the armies.

I have several questions regarding the contest. I was going to jsut PM Keyogi but I figured that others might want to know the answers as well.

1) Do we need to provide 100% complete maps?
2) Do we need to provide both large and small versions?
3) Do we need XML?
4) After the deadline, will the vote determine the winner or several maps for final work.
5) If the voting picks one winner, will the normal foundry process take place to better refine and finally quench the map or will the winning map be quenched like it is?

Lets make some good maps Only 11 days left!

Thanks

To answer WidowMakers questions:

1) I'm not sure what you mean by a 100% complete map, but the more complete your map looks the better your chances of getting votes.
2) No, one or the other will do.
3) No.
4) The vote will determine the winner.
5) The winning map will continue through development like any other map, I would think it unfair otherwise.

The participants of the competition will remain anonymous until voting has closed. This will ensure no preference is given to a particular cartographer, just the map on its own merits. If any signature's are visible on a map, I will blur these out myself before posting.

Map A for sure. Too bad no one is allowed to add add some rivers or mountains... *some* sort of barriers would be nice on this map.

Map A is definately the best, although D isn't too far behind.

Judging by the styles of the maps, if these two members created maps, I bet D was Keyogi's and A was Widowmakers (2 of the Best Map Makers we have!)

Well done to everyone, and thanks for participating!
