[Conf] Drop Game confirmation popup

Postby Granite26 on Sun Mar 04, 2007 7:09 pm

<Subject>: Drop Game confirmation popup

(hopefully this IS new?)

<Body>:

* Suggestion Idea:JS a confirmation popup before dropping from a game
* Specifics: Hard to get more specific
* Why it is needed: More than one person I've known has accidentally dropped a game while they were messing with it. It'd be easy and effective
* Priority** (1-5): 2, ish (not vital, but dumb easy)

**Note**

1 = Bottom of 'To Do' list
5 = Urgent, implement with next update

I'm assuming you know about the confirmation scripts for greasemonkey, but in case you don't there is all the information about greasemonkey...once you have the confirmation script, you can edit to confirm whatever you want (for example, i got rid of the confirmation for auto-attack)

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6672

it talks a little about greasemonkey there

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6672

and that is the fix because of lacks stupid (but loved) update

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 01&start=0

that is the collection of all the greasemonkey scripts

http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/

explains what greasemonkey is in general, for Mozilla Firefox

Confirm/Cancel option for clicking "Drop Game"

Postby killthejoe on Sat Nov 17, 2007 10:24 pm

Suggestion Idea/Specifics:

I would like to see a small option that pops up and says "Confirm" or "Cancel" when you click "Drop Game" on one that is awaiting players.

Why it is needed?

I've done this twice now and it's very frustrating when you've got the players you want and are almost ready to start the game and you accidentally click Drop Game. I know I should be more careful, but all that is needed is a simple confirmation button.

Thank you.

Why would your mouse ever come close to doing that?

I'm not promising anything, but I'll take a look into this issue tomorrow. If I can create a Grease Monkey script - I'll post it. Hopefully, it won't be too difficult.

I'm working on this as a Grease Monkey script. I have yet to figure out how to capture the the anchor (href) object that drops the game.

It's this simple:

    Capture anchor object.
Add listener for the click event.
    Add confirm box.
    - Yes = go to drop game page.
    - No = do nothing.

I'm on a bloody laptop atm - trackpads have an annoying habit of clicking when you're only trying to move the pointer!!

I've made private games and I've wanted to copy and paste the game number into a PM to my friends. I'll try to select the game number and somehow click on it and it drops the game.

Now there's a good idea. Also, End Attacks would be nice.

Both End Fortification and End Attacks are available as part of AJAX BOB

Or just click on the link in yeti_c's signature.

I'll just have to live without it for now. I don't want to download greasemonkey just for CC.

You do realize of course, that my script to Confirm the Drop of a Game is a Grease Monkey script? So, if you're using that - you're already using Grease Monkey *lol*.

I don't have Grease Monkey. Right now, every click of the mouse is closely monitored. That's why I said i'd hate to install grease monkey just for use here on CC.

I just started a tournament and noticed that as a tournament organizer you can drop games (in Waiting for Players status) created by mistake. Not sure which drop occurs if you are also IN that game. Does it keep the game and just pull you out or does it drop the game completely.

I'll figure that out when I update this script - right now it only does confirmations on the Waiting Games (mygames2) page. I was planning on merging this into my saved searches script. This allows me to do that AND cover both pages.

I don't know when I'll have the new version up - but it could be soon, check back for updates !!!

"Are you sure?" prompt for 'drop game' button

Postby markspencer on Tue Jan 08, 2008 7:13 pm

It may just be me but several times now I've hit 'drop game' by accident and it's really frustrating! I'm so used to clicking 'enter game' that I do it by habit. If there was a confirmation box for it that would be awesome!

Anyone else agree? :D

Just to save wicked copying and pasting this is a suggestion.

But yes I do agree I used to do it all the time. Got so bad people used to think I was wimping out of playing them when all the time I was just a n00b.
Positive: Great guy, will always play to his best. Honourable and fun to play with as well. You know you're in for a rough time playing mrdexter :) Game 31384 Haydena
Positive: Mr D is the golden child of CC, if we had to elect a king he'd get my vote! Game 76700 silus

I've never liked the drop game link either. I think instead of a confirmation button, the drop game should be moved to a different location. That link is in the place where you normally click to enter a game, so if you are on "Games Awaiting Players" instead of "Active Games" without realizing it then you end up dropping the game when trying to enter. :?
