Re: Chinese Civil War, 1946-1950 Update 2/10

As for the decay on the commanders... it's an idea still to be toyed with. What I'm hoping to achieve is something along the lines of the Third Crusade map where each player has a base of men to start with and initially carve out his sphere of influence.

I wonder if a player does abandon his ...

Re: Chinese Civil War, 1946-1950 Update 2/10

First, I really love this map. You need to clone yourself so that you can churn out more historical maps.

The updated version is much clearer and the party loyalty looks like it should work as long as it's killer neutral like Natty_dread said.

Are you going to have the USA and Soviet Support at 15 ...

Re: Hungary in 16th century

Graphics concerns aside, did you have any ideas for the map gameplay?

It says on your profile that your interests are history (good choice!). Did you choose the 16th century with something in mind?

Off the top of my head, I know that towards the end of the century the Autro-Hungarians were ...

Re: River Rapids

Love it.

This idea has a good, unique idea for the flow of gameplay. I looked at it and at first thought of Circus Maximus, where you are looping around and around trying to catch players. But although they both have a "race" feel with 1-way attacks, this is different because of the starting points ...

Re: Battleship Potemkin - Mutiny!

Awesome idea. Any ship mutiny would work of course, in nearly any era, but this Red Mutiny sounds cool just from the name alone. I'll have to look it up on the net tonight.

This could be sort of like Prison Riot, except with an objective capture, like taking over key parts of the ship and crew.

Re: Zombie Invasion

V.3 is a big improvement, I know there'll be many more to go, but this map is much more concrete visually; the bonus regions are clear, barriers are clearer, and of course it has a bonus legend now which helps even if the numbers may change. Yay! :)

You've also added the rule-set you were ...

Re: Internet themed map

As an idea, I think a Hacker War might be a good theme for 'conquering' sites on the Internet. There's actually a lot of sci-fi stuff out there that we're all familiar with, particularly William Gibson's novels. ICE, evil AIs, even real-world corporate SWAT teams... lots of good ideas to use I think.

Re: Zombie Invasion

Damn! I had crazy ideas and a sketch or two for a zombie map >.<

Oh well. If this one goes through I could always make it some other "post-apocalyptic" theme that would fit my map. Gotta get Central America finished first ](*,)

Maybe you two could collaborate? In my experience projects are ...

Re: Zombie Invasion

thanks for all the advice... I definitely am considering starting points like in feudal war to give players a chaotic start the the game...

As long as you aren't thinking of putting in huge neutral stacks (or even 3s or 2s) like in Feudal War I'm happy... hate to say it but that map bugs me ...

Re: Standoff

I think the map and the idea could benefit from placing these people in some more firm criminal scenario, as HighBorn indicated.

An Old West shootout could work well- there are actual examples like Tombstone (OK Corral, etc.) or fictional like any Spaghetti Western that come to mind- and could then ...

Re: Collapse of the Soviet Union

Grrrr... you make a good point, especially in a No Spoils game someone could just sit on the Russina Fed and build. Dang... and yet...

hmmm. I guess that sort of ties in with the second part about other bonuses being hard to come by. "Breakaway" groups need to be able to get significant bonuses ...

Re: 1812

The War of 1812 should also be viewed from its importance to Native American cultures seeking security against American encroachment.

Britain relied very heavily on Indian forces in some theaters. Tecumseh's Indian Confederacy played a major part in the war. British guarantees of Indian sovereignty ...

Re: Collapse of the Soviet Union

The Russians were the de facto ruling class of the Soviet Union, and of course the Russian Federation should be able to overpower Estonia... but if that's the case then why did Estonia get away with independence?

The answer is that keeping many of these places became more trouble than it was worth ...

What I Like:
Contest Theme.
Something about the name and idea appeal to me; I'm not sure why exactly. Maybe I can see some kind of "Running Man" or (cough) "Jumanji" aspect possible. I think a dark-humor sort of Gameshow or board-game idea might set it apart from the CC board-game maps like ...

Re: Zombie Invasion

Zombies are a classic idea that is long overdue for a center of map excellence like CC!

Since it's clear that you're still in the initial stages of planning- how to create thematic zombie gameplay, what the bonuses and territories should be like, and how to spice up the graphics- allow me throw in ...

Re: Galactic Alliance II - Mixed Quads (Reserves Needed)

Do those smarmy Earthlings have a fourth player for their Alliance? I looked at the list and it said to be announced. If they need someone, I'm sure we could all ask around.

Re: Galactic Alliance II - Mixed Quads (4/24)

I saw your tournament and loved the idea. I noticed the requirement put a maximum of 2 players over 2000 points. None of our team is over 2000, but there is a fair mix of ranks. If that's a problem, no big deal. Your requirements mentioned triples medals, but you may have meant quads medals, so I'll ...
