Re: Rate my Strategy? What am I doing wrong?

Agree that the OP is naturally thinking in a flat rate or no cards standard mindset.

A couple of other points:

1. Limit your map selection more...I suspect you are partly getting hammered because you are playing too many different maps against opposition who know doubt understand those maps better ...

Thanks for the heads up!
A dumb way to get busted... That s the problem when you reach those high scores, you want to keep them but can t have all the fun of playing.

I feel there should be an "unrated" option where players can play unrated games (points dont matter).

if there is enough demand ...

Re: Golden Nuggets from my archives

I was looking at my old collection of Conquer Club files (I used to be the webmaster here) and I found a bunch of stuff that ought to be shared with people that might also appreciate them. Today's nugget is the original World Map. I'll try to remember to post another nugget every now and then ...

i wish i felt as witty as some of you (i am really quite impressed at many of your skills with words). i just declined an invite from alster - oh no!!! - because it was on USA 2.1 BETA,
with fog, trench, and all other horrid settings which would make the game last 6 months.
frankly i didn't even ...

Re: A rather disgraceful thing...

So the kangaroo court of pompous gits, and anally retentive tut tutters has met. Everyone is sure it is bad taste, and they would never suggest that people of a lower rank get a chance at taking their points. No rules have been broken, a lot of mud has been thrown. <yawns>

Re: A rather disgraceful thing...

Lmao! That's a lame excuse. If that's what you really believe then fine, but that's not what alstergren's doing.

There is always a mentor on both teams in SoC, and there wouldn't be any non-SoC players in the game unless it was a SoC team vs public, which this is not.

Not to mention the KotM ...

Re: A rather disgraceful thing...

I think it is just rather low behaviour.

Is it against the rules? Well, I rememember another player getting into all sorts of trouble for inviting a great selection of ranks to his games (which i think were 1vs.1). In this case, the very lowest of ranks are being invited to a quads freestyle (etc ...

Which one map and setting would be your version of paradise, to be played into eternity?

My own would be 13 colonies dubs (ns, ch, sunny) with spazzattack as my loyal second.

There is something absolutely delicious about this basic battle between north and south. No other game has so ...

Re: Why I went Freemium, after 7 years

Ideas on how we can simplify the game finder and available games pages to make it easier to navigate and find the options you are looking for are greatly appreciated (either here or in Suggestions). In particular, how can we guide people to stick to simple options by default, and only use the more ...

Re: Such A Sad Thing To See

I would consider a player with over 20 active games to be a 'moderately heavy user'. It would seem that the stats back me up on that. I have rarely had more than 20 active games in my time here.

Let's consider it in this way:

+10 active games - a reasonable fellow

+20 active games - a moderately ...

BBS, you know from the other thread that the dice aren't random. They just don't favor one player over another.

Sure, the dice may not favor one player over another, but the Dice Gods certainly do! They greatly appreciate my sacrifices, and upon perusing my battle outcomes, everything may appear ...

Re: Highest #of conquered territories in one turn? Classic B

I think this might well be the record for a no cards game (at least on 2.1..which is a rather large map).

Game 3475900

Two territories to begin on final move, swept the final player taking 110 regions.

65% against is a fairly conclusive result.

A couple of points:
a) This change would not benefit all game types even within the narrow focus of1vs.1 and team games generally. For example, within the narrow field that I play this change would simply not improve the game (no fog, no cards, chained ...

Hi everyone,

I am coming out in support of this suggestion. I believe it to be a suggestion that has only has upside and no downside. It largely applies to 1v1, Poly and Team games... and theoretically could be implemented only for them. I think the effect is fairly minimal in other games, either ...

I just stumbled upon this fact myself only moments ago, but as it looks right now, whammy has been fairing pretty well for himself so far on the club. Right now he has a 75% win rate and has played on a decent variety of maps in his 90 or so games. Take a look for yourself:

Re: The Polymorphic Death of Team Games

The games in which you have complete control anyway, will be better played with poly,
in games in which cooperation is needed you will play team.

This can be easily introduced in CWs by limiting player to possible % of slots per war.

I think the certainty that team games need cooperation is ...
