I am not posting this in the drafting room yet as it is not a working draft just yet, but it is the start of my next project. :)

Bruce, you will have to be very careful, the regions can get very small so you may not have room for name and numbers in the large map, let alone the small one. You have a huge border so think about making it a lot bigger and also fudge the borders a bit.

You are correct. I am going to have to figure it out carefully. I think I can get it done.

Bruce, I know you have a start here but I want to get you to think about this.
Siege of Boston
I really think that this would be a far better map as it will allow you to make the game play better than the normal average map. Graphically it would be a lot like you have it now but you would end up with a tighter map (smaller area covered), make it more relevant to the site (we all like killing armies all the time) and also I believe it would allow you to explore something different as a map maker after Baltics and London.

I do like that idea... but wait till I get a working draft up to see what I have in mind. :) I think you will like it. This map is not going to be simple. :)

What are the magic numbers are far as territories go? 48? 52? Something like that?

think the magic number is originally based off a 8 player map - as we move forward into 12 players map (will you make this a 12 player map?) then the magic numbers will be different...

No this likely will not work too well for 12 players.

Depending on the number of neutrals you have on the map, you only need 36 open spots to have 12 players I would think. 36 open spots means each player in a 12 player game starts out at 3 regions.
Magic numbers are half way down and would not really change for a 12 player game.

Right I was not thinking about 12 players... Seems to small of a map for 12 players...

Right now we work on 24 for 8 players having 3 regions each, the only difference now is that I believe is this will not change but to get 12 players into a game, you would need 36.

Right but 3 is not much to start with... 4 is still not much but better...

But a lot of maps, you only start with 3 territs. It is the minimum we work from. The list of maps that will be bared from the 12 player game is really small.

I do not see why any map should be barred from 12 man games. If someone wants to play doodle earth... then they should be able to. Their own death and not mine.

Lots of work to be done. Name and Number test on the large version.

Bruce, remember I mentioned about the size issues, well they are already here in the large map so the small one will be even worse. Right now you have names over laping other territs, names outside of territs, numbers are not even sitting comfortable in one or two territs.

Seriously I would consider making the focus more on Boston itself and some of the surrounding counties. Nothing wrong with making the focus small but if you want to keep this area covered, you will need to start thinking about the unused space, fudge some borders, merge some counties

While I don't care in the slightest about the city and area of Boston, I do love the curvature of the lines on the map and the colours you've chosen.
