Siege! Tunnel

I think that holding the tunnel in Siege! should be worth more than 2 extra armies. It has 7 territories and 3 places to defend. Every other continent or region with (or close to) 7/3 is worth more. A player would have to destroy 21 armies to occupy the tunnel.

it was supposed to have another option of 4 or more. i guess I should have previewed it first.
just leave a comment on how much you think it should be worth

I think it is fine anyway. If you look at other maps it sometimes are too much extra armies to hold continents. It should stay at 2

This should be posted in the map's thread in the foundry. It has been discussed and debated prior to the map's release and obviously everyone was happy with it as it was. I expect the reasoning behind the low bonus was the strategic value of the tunnel. I don't see any need to change it.

the problem is if you make the tunnel worth more you will have to change all of it. the midlands will have to be worth millions because its 6/6. its all proportional. i like it the way it is!

europe on classic has 4 territories to defend, 7 territories to take. bonus is 5

the tunnel in siege has 3 territories to defend, 7 territories to take. bonus is 2


so for one less territory to defend, the bonus drops by 3? doesnt make sense :P

it not just lands and acces, but also location.
central lands like europe can not only be attacked from 5 lands, but also as so central in the game nearly everybody can get close.
tunels are on the corner and though it can be attacked from 3 points its easely defendable if only by taking the surrounding small continents

The 2 is to make it so people don't want to play the tunnel like they would all the other continents. If mibi and I truly had our way the tunnel wouldn't be worth anything, we found 3 to 2 an easier argument to win. From the games I've observed our vision for how the tunnel should be used is being realized. People aren't trying to really hold the tunnel very often and are instead using it for troop movement and desperation moves.

i actually like the tunnel and how it is worth just 2. basically people just neglect it and if you have it sometimes you can hold it with little or no defenses :wink:

Although it has a lot of territories, it is often easy to expand through, as you will often only have 2 borders, freeing up lots of troops, compare this to Europe on classic map, same amount of territories but much harder to gain as each territory can be attacked by at least two others. The one way border to the throne room though is worth an extra bonus troop or two (if it was to be counted as a traditional continent - I appreciate the post from the map maker stating his reasons why it was not intended this way).
