All of these descriptions have been put on the map info webpages.

It's a good opportunity to sell your own map!

(Check out cairnswk's descriptions, these are good examples of how to do it)

ASIA and USA were original CC maps. Lack had someone make them for the start. SO they have no "carto" author and their dates are the day CC began.

Classic Shapes and Centerscape were done to replace the original classic (launched with the two mentioned above) and Middle Earth made by Mr. K
The author is not known except by the sig Lynn. But whatever that means.

Yes I know that.

I'm hoping someone can put up a description for them. I can ask lack, but I'm sure he'd be ok if an experienced mapmaker gave a description also.

I would ignore Centerscape for now. Midgard will be done in a couple weeks/months and replace it.

It was a bit of a crazy night... It's quite hard to divide the work up so distinctly, particularly as there was so much overlapping and baton-passing.

How did things go? Well, there was lots of debate between those involved in the process about ideas/concepts, and several rough (and I mean really rough) drafts that floated around for a while... so Ideas-wise, you could attribute all of the recognised contributors.
The first draft that developed into Classic:Art was drawn by mibi, but passed through oaktown, MrBenn and WidowMakers before it was finished.
During the drafting process, all of the contributors helped to develop the idea and ensure that the gameplay was the same as the original Classic... whether this means all of them/none of them qualify for the gameplay I don't know...
I can't remember who started the XML, but I have a sneaky suspicion that yeti_c did the bulk of it, with the relevant support / spellings / centerings coming from whoever was still awake at the time...

Done City Mogul...

Gimil should do Feudal war as it was his first map.

RJ can do Dustbowl as it was his first map.

Ruben can do Malta, Lux, San Marino - as this is his part of the world and his expertise.

Classic Shapes
This map is a mish-mash of colorful shapes. It has no similarity to any other map that ever existed on the CC site. It has been lovingly called the “Lucky Charms” map and most people hate it because it exists instead of another map that shall not be named.

Classic Art
Ever want to know about different periods/styles of art and the artists involved with them? Well step right up and play a round on Classic Shapes. Designed to provide a more pleasing option to the “Lucky Charms” map, this beauty provides rock solid gameplay that is loved by all in a new and different visual package.

Rail USA
This map started as an idea for the train enthusiasts. It is based on the Amtrak train network in the USA. The basic Amtrak network was used but some adjustments were made to accommodate balanced gameplay and territory count.

Instead of the standard "Classic border" look that connects territories, sets of railway lines were used to connect the stations.

8 Thoughts
This is an abstract/philosophical map where players are asked to unite the 8 realms of human thought. While a thought realm might have attributes that are distinctive to it, there are attributes that realms share with one another (such as Execution is in both LAW and DEATH or Invention is in both WEALTH and INVENTION). These shared attributes exist in all 8 thoughts and each thought realm has 2 shared borders with neighboring realms.

The central portion of the map is where the mind resides. Thoughts mean nothing if the mind is not central to them. If one controls the mind, they have access to all of the thought realms at once. But controlling the mind by itself in not enough and that is why Reason is required to gain full benefit of your thoughts and mind.

USA Great Lakes
This map is based off of the bonus region of the same name from the original Conquer Club USA map. The map is divided into state, interstate and capital bonus groups. All territories are cities located inside the states. This map is one of six maps designed as a pack to be played together in tournament form (but can be played individually as well).

It is unique as it contains Washington D.C. and is the only map in the 6 pack that has a starting neutral territory (D.C.)

In the 6 Pack, all 48 of the continental states, states capitals, major cities (and some minor ;-) ) and D.C are represented.

USA New England
This map is based off of the bonus region of the same name from the original Conquer Club USA map. The map is divided into state, interstate and capital bonus groups. All territories are cities located inside the states. This map is one of six maps designed as a pack to be played together in tournament form (but can be played individually as well).

Due to the small size and limited space in the original USA map, all of the New England states could not be represented. This map expands on the region to include all of the states that actually exist in the space represented in the original map.

In the 6 Pack, all 48 of the continental states, states capitals, major cities (and some minor ;-) ) and D.C are represented.

USA Rockies
This map is based off of the bonus region of the same name from the original Conquer Club USA map. The map is divided into state, interstate and capital bonus groups. All territories are cities located inside the states. This map is one of six maps designed as a pack to be played together in tournament form (but can be played individually as well).

In the 6 Pack, all 48 of the continental states, states capitals, major cities (and some minor ;-) ) and D.C are represented.

USA Southeast
This map is based off of the bonus region of the same name from the original Conquer Club USA map. The map is divided into state, interstate and capital bonus groups. All territories are cities located inside the states. This map is one of six maps designed as a pack to be played together in tournament form (but can be played individually as well).

In the 6 Pack, all 48 of the continental states, states capitals, major cities (and some minor ;-) ) and D.C are represented.

USA Southwest
This map is based off of the bonus region of the same name from the original Conquer Club USA map. The map is divided into state, interstate and capital bonus groups. All territories are cities located inside the states. This map is one of six maps designed as a pack to be played together in tournament form (but can be played individually as well).

In the 6 Pack, all 48 of the continental states, states capitals, major cities (and some minor ;-) ) and D.C are represented.

USA West
This map is based off of the bonus region of the same name from the original Conquer Club USA map. The map is divided into state, interstate and capital bonus groups. All territories are cities located inside the states. This map is one of six maps designed as a pack to be played together in tournament form (but can be played individually as well).

Chipv, here is description for Poison Rome when it somces out of beta...

Map name: Poison Rome
Map Description: Designed on the layout of a family-tree and based on the Julio-Claudian Family, Poison Rome again pushes the boundaries of CC maps. The main bonuses are based around having all members of an entire family; the bonuses are noted as part of the marriage symbols between the parents. Gods (two-way assaults from the Emperors and Dictator) also have an autordeploy bonus. This map because of it's configuration allows one to assault a family across the other side of the map and thus is easy to move around.
Continents: 31
Territories: 63
Starting Territories: 44
Gameplay Features: Starting Neutrals, Bombardments, Naming Challenges, Autodeploy, Double Dipping, Ranged Attacks
