Impressive... but I fear it might be unreadable on the small map. Can you shrink it down to small map size just to see how its gonna look?

France looks a bit wonky stretched out like that...

Shrink it to small size, then put 888:s in it. If they all fit without covering important features then you're good to go. If not, then you'll just have to cut back some territories.

I like it a lot. When you do the small map, re-write all names and re-insert smaller circles, don't just shrink them, it will be clearer. I hope you can keep it as is, i really think it can be a fun map to play - and i love the historical accuracy, of course. Good work!

What size will the 888's be?
Can I download them from somewhere?

You already have 88:s obviously, so just copy one 8 and put it next to the 88.

Just don't shrink the 88:s while you shrink the map.

Well, I believe this can be made to work, but you'll most likely have to fudge up some borders to better accommodate the numbers and territory names inside the territories. Particularly, England needs some work, Ireland too. You may have to merge some territories in both.

Also, the inset needs work. Take a look how insets have been executed on other maps: the insets usually show a part of the territories that border the inset territories, so you can see which territories the inset territories border without comparing the inset to the actual map and looking back & forth all the time.

You may also have to develop another method to identify bonus areas. Currently the coloured outlines are so thin that they blend into each other and it's practically impossible to tell which bonus is which. Also you have way too many similar colours, keep in mind the map must pass colourblind tests.

Ok. I can merge Oxford and Middlesex, and get rid of Dublin and Cork. Are there any other regions that are problematic?
I can make the inset box taller.

Colours are easily changeable. What colours should I use? How would I know if it's colourblind passable?
I can use fills instead of strokes for the bonus regions. I somehow thought it looked better like this. But I might be wrong...

Love this map. It should move to Gameplay. Can you explain how Cumberland works? Also, plus one for ever territory adjacent to a held bonus? How is that going to work? These are Gameplay issues of course- plenty of time to work on them. Great job!

I'll agree with Helix. Post a brief and you will likely see fast movement to Gameplay immediately thereafter.

I'm not sure what to do with Cumberland, but since the erea was so hotly contested between the two kings I thought there should be something there. I'm open to sugestions on that.

A +1 reinforcement for any terit bordering your bonus. Is that a dificult thing to do?

Not difficult per se, but it requires lots of XML code - might be too heavy for the game engine...

I understand your dilema with Cumbri, but you must explain how it works. now it looks that Scotish bonus and English bonus are valid only when is held also Cumbri.
what about to do Cumbri "neutral" region without any bonus? or +1 for Cumbri if player also hold Scotland or England...

Does this apply to every single bonus you hold, though? Do any territories ever get counted twice? Does it include territories within a different bonus you hold?

This all depends on what the xml allows. Natty_dread suggested that it might be too much for the engine.
But, no, it wouldn't include terits in another bonus you hold. And I think you would only count terits once, even if they border several of your bonus regions.

This is all still very much possible, and probably wouldn't be too taxing on the engine. I see a sort of problem emerging, though. Say, for example, that you hold Ireland along with every territory of Norman Ireland except for Dubh Linn. There's five of them, so you have +3 for Ireland and +5 for bordering territories. Now you have a disincentive to conquer Dubh Linh, since all those border territories would now be inside a bonus you control -- you'd only have +3 for Ireland and +4 for Norman Ireland. Likewise, if by some grace of God you hold Toulouse and Anjou, and you want to conquer Aquitaine, you're better off leaving out Saintogne and taking the +7 bonus from the other territories.
Not that this breaks the system, but there might be some adjustments called for.

Anyway, that's all deep gameplay stuff. I really like the basic idea, though.
