It depends, if the colours are colourblind-friendly.

Finally had some time to update.

Tried to add different textures to the surfaces but didn't like it at all and abandoned it.

Instead I decided to breath some life into the original idea by adding a slight bevel to the regions and
increasing volume overall, richer shadows and more contrast.

I think this is changing, at first view of this new version i liked it, but then the shapes of the islands started to look like tablets (pills) on the tables (weird I know)...perhaps just a touch too much curvature on the top of the shapes ? Although it does give the perception of some releif, and PNG is very mountainous.
It could be step in the right direction without the shading though and a slight change-up in the colours.

Be aware too that the final image will be a .jpg, so there might be a bit of detail lost.... :/

I like the fact card for PNG, but it's bland, something little that can go next to this for a just a splash of cultural color? Flag perhaps?

Can I ask you to look at te sea routes. They start and finish at the top of the islands. It might look better if the start and finish at the bottom in the water.

By request of the mapmaker: This map is on vacation. To return this map from vacation please contact a CA after an update has been made. If on vacation for an extended period time, the map may be reviewed for gameplay again to make sure it is within current Foundry guidelines. Gameplay stamp may be removed if the map is found to be deficient in any way.

Is there any way we can get this one finished? It won a contest, after all, and is not too far from completion. If ndrs won't pick it up, are there any procedures for someone else to do so since it was a contest winner? I really loved this design and would hate to lose it forever.

I sent a quick PM to ndrs to ask him to come and continue this. If not, someone else can continue it soon but with all new graphics.

Hey guys, thanks for the interest.

I would love to complete this map, as long as no major changes are needed. I do like it as it is (besides a few things I would like to change).
I think I'll have some time again after next week... :)

By the way, looking at the old mages, they look pixly. What's up with that? They were of better quality when I uploaded them.

Glad to see you wanting to continue this. As for the images, some of the sites degrade after a while. Just post new images for a fresh feel.

Perhaps North/South Highlands could be slightly more distinct colours ?

I think we're ready to go with this otherwise.

Or switch North Highlands with Sepik? There's really no reason that the greys have to be so close to the impassables.

The six months of vacation for this map has expired and this map will now be labeled as [Abandoned]. If the original mapmaker wants to continue this map project that's fine but an update must provided. From this moment anyone else is free to take this project without the original mapmaker permission, but it has to be started from scratch.

I'm going to try pick this map up if that's okay?

With a different graphics style.

I just want something which will pass the gameplay stage without too much fuss really.

as it was a competition result I'm not sure if it shouldn't be the 2nd who will get the priority

That might be the case, but rules are rules. The 6 months are up and this is now any ones map to make. It is just a shame that all this great work is going to go unfinished. :(

Personally I feel the map would work as is (and look pretty damn good). In the end I felt I couldn't afford putting in the time when there's a good chance it could drag on and on and be demands for changes I really didn't wanna do.
I'm totally cool with whomever wants to take over from here.

If all that's left is to finish a little graphics and the XML, I'd be happy to write it.

The conquerclub agreement is not our friend in this case:
The author retains copyright on their work, and gives Conquer Club permission to use the imagery free of charge....omissis

This map is dead till the author decides to work again directly on it (which doesn't seem the case reading ndrs post) or someone will start the project from the scratch....and it's what ManB is doing.
ManB map looks very nice and promising, I strongly suggest everyone to go there and give support, suggestions and advices to that map, instead of waste time here.

I'm sorry guys, but I think you're riding a dead horse here.
