Possibilities for capitals.
(Green borders are mountains that ought to be there - sure they're not actually there, but having an empty expanse as a desert is really lame)

It was at this point that I realized that maybe diagonal attacks aren't a good idea.

one thing i really dislike about this map... is the overuse of drop shadow. i'm with others in that the idea is nice, if you can make it work.. but design wise, seriously.. lose the drop shadow on everything. drop shadow is like expensive perfume, it should be used sparingly.

Personally I'm against SoG because it seems that the person to get through the gray with the best dice wins. At least in IoG there's more strategy in placement and movement of troops.

My mother's in hospital right at the moment so while I'm still keeping up my turns, most of my life is currently swinging between studying or visits. It's a 2 hour drive if I want to visit and after I get home, generally I have just about enough strength to clamber into bed ;-)

I have been reading the thread and I was hoping that in my absence, more comments on the capitals that I mentioned earlier in the thread would arise.

I'm very much caught up in the idea of capital and I still like the Sea of Grey too (I'm seeing the capitals as a mini-SoG :-P).

I'm grateful to unriggable for his suggestions on impassables and capital locations but (and perhaps my geography is not as hot as once it was) they seem a little too made up. I still prefer the list I gave before (sorry Unriggable) because I based those suggestion on real, economically/politically powerful capitals while still maintaining gameplay. Next time I have time, I'll do as Unriggable has done (with the yellow squares) and 'rig up' a version with my suggestions on.

Don't give up on me or the idea guys, just give me some time for now :-)

Mountains were made up, it's just kind of boring with an empty expanse of pixels. BTW Istill think you should get rid of diagonal attacks.

I'm waiting for the capitals mock up... -> I'm kindof with Unriggable about diagonals - except for the land bridges...

It will make it much easier to work out what can attack what without diagonals.

Remove Antarctica (or add a shitload more territs with high # of neutrals) - its one of the hardest areas to travers yet you can easily go from south america into australia by going through one country. Just kind of stupid considering the fact that is is only one territory

This map has some overlap problems in it for 3 digit/colorblind so it would need to completely change before we could let it progress.

I'm back and I'll be continuing my map. I've been gone a while so I've missed a few things. Have the colourblind letters been added fully now, such that everyone has them?

I've missed quite a lot of news and if possible, can some of you fill me in a little, please?
I guess I'll need to ensure that the boxes are capable of supporting 3 numbers and the widest of the colourblind letters... can someone tell me how many pixels that will have to be, please? Also, can someone tell me if we're still limited to 800 pixels wide maps and have the same height limitations?

... Thanks.

Woohoo - welcome back Joe!!

All the letters are as wide as each other...

So Essentially you only need to test against 3 digits...

The problem is this - the 3 digits don't center properly...

The centre the same as the 2 digits - but with 1 digit appended to the end - you may need to be extra careful on the right of your map.

ALSO - new code is such that we can govern the amount of reinforcements...

So instead of having lots of neutrals - the entire map could be open - but you can only give reinforcements for every (say) 6 territories.

So, as long as I remake the boxes so they're big enough for: o888 (888 armies belonging to orange) ... then tinker with the centring so it fits on without overlap, I'm set again?

New code change sounds good. I'll still make multiple versions of the map though, I think it's only fair after I've advertised them so much ;-)

Just to confirm, that's 32 pixels wide (3 digits + 1 letter), 8 pixels per letter.

Can anyone out there confirm this?

BelJoDoe

Could you update the thread title to confirm where the latest version is?
I'm guessing that's it in the first post on page one, but I'm not sure.

Thanks.

Guys this mao is on vacation. I encourage that you dont bump it unless the cartographer restarts development or if you intent to pick up production yourself :)
What do you know about map making, bitch?
