Right ho, its pretty much decided on killer neutrals then, but how many to respawn to?

Should i start working on the XML yet do you think?

You might as well start the XML. And on the map it says the seas are 2 neutrals, but that can be changed easily.

PROBLEM WITH THE XML!
We have lots of territs in the castles called the same thing, that wont work with XML. Should i put the names of the castles in front? (say Londonbuhr Gate)



Also, at the moment I'm building the XML so Manau starts neutral 3, Seas start Neutral 3 and killer reset to Neutral 2. Is this okay with people?

I think it works fine, I just ment for gameplay reasons.

Okay I checked the XML. All is fine except this-

What does this mean? Line 49 is written:

As far as I can see, it shouldnt be abnormal, and the rest of that part of the text seems fine. (if anyone wants to look, its the continent bit for Mercia, pretty close to the top.

SECONDLY: When you put the coords for the armies, is that the middle of the number or the top corner?

Tel, we have a rather big problem. Theres a lot of territs with no space for men. Some can be solved by moving names about but a lot are a bit harder.

I recon our problem territs are:
Cerniu
Cantwara
Londonburh
Lindissi
Dinefwr
Defet
Clwyd
Dornon

-this depends of course on how good armies look when on top of a boarder.

I'd prefer if there was some sort of note about only attacking via doors in the castles. I didn't notice that until you said it and since your XML coder wasn't sure about it either, I'd say that solidifies there being an issue!

We just had the same discussion in the maze craze map - doesn't sound like the initial neutral placement can be the same as the revert value.

However, in your case I don't think it's a problem to start them at 2... worst thing that happens is somebody hits an ocean early for an easy card, but then loses the territory and any armies he had on them and wonders if it was worth it. And when you think about it, why should that stretch of ocean be any harder for the first guy to attack than the second?

I mentioned recently that the castles look like they are on islands... this is especially problematic in the places where the castles are very close to the mainland and its hard to tell if the water goes through (follow the east coast up). If think something entirely new has to be done to make the castles look like insets rather than just a part of the map.

I previously did not have this problem when i put a wooden frame around the castle layouts, but people complained then, i suppose i could put a broken wooden border around the castle layouts to try and solve the problem. although then i should do that for the legend and the title, but there is no harm in trying.

On a side note, how is it for colourblindness oak?

The Large does show its blurriness a bit badly. I would suggest up-scaling the image and then replacing all text with bigger versions (or have PhotoShop re-anti-alias it). The text is the only place where the loss of crispness is glaringly obvious.

And please, it's been noted a dozen times before, make your territory borders a little jagged. All the straight lines don't match up with the "Dark Age Britain" look that you have so masterfully crafted throughout the rest of the map.

Finally, a small grammar correction on the bottom right instructions (I do like the use of the imperative, it adds age to the map somehow), add a comma after "but beware".

Sorry about the lack of an update, my school exams have just started. But im also on study leave, so more free time, but most of it should be taken up with revision.

The font has isn't very nice to any time you use "2". Perhaps a little sculpting to make it more prominent?

I like the castle change, that's much better.

Yes, you aged the borders, but we're talking about how straight they are. Cait to Moray is a diagonal line, instead of a wavy thing like you see in most geographic maps. It's even more jarring due to the fact that you have such great geographic edges of Britain there.

I think it makes it look more handwritten, and i think people can tell it is a 2.

*Oh yes BTW, I noticed the rooms in castles had walls and doors which broke them off from each other, is that ok tel? (for instance, Dinefwr Gate can't attack Dinefwr Keep because there is no door betwixt them.



i didn't check the whole coding but at the continents parts you forgot to add the continent for holding 3 castles.

for the rest it looks quite good and it should be working.

What does this mean? Line 49 is written:

As far as I can see, it shouldnt be abnormal, and the rest of that part of the text seems fine. (if anyone wants to look, its the continent bit for Mercia, pretty close to the top.

As for coulerblindness, didn't we have some rather nice names underlaying the continent at one time, what do people think about bringing those back? The only possible problem i can forsee is them interfearing with my numbers.

I like to idea, but it was had to make it look right, wessex looked alright because it is long and not high, so the names fits in nicely, the problem comes at strathclyde and northumbria, because they are tall and short, so the names dont fit in well.

Anyway, here is an update with the curvier borders:
