[Abandoned] - The Citadel

Map Title: The Citadel
Current Map:

Old Map:

Territories: 38
Continents: 4
This map is a different, I feel more realistic, twist on the idea of a castle map.
The Citadel, Archer camp, and Trebuchet's start neutral, with the following number of troops:
The Citadel:7
Archer camp: 5
Trebuchet's: 4
The Citadel can bombard any territory on the map.
The Trebuchet's can bombard The Citadel.
The Archer camp can bombard any territory in Arin.
Docks can attack other docks.
The Citadel receives 5 troops (autodeploy).
The Archer camp receives 3 troops (autodeploy).
The Trebuchet's receive 2 troops (autodeploy).
Gameplay objective is normal (i.e. conquer the map, etc.)
The continent bonuses are:
Lorn +3
Gort +2
Arin +4
Nor +3
Note: This map is not based on any previously existing place, fictitious or otherwise.
So, does anyone have some constructive input?

give each continent a different color. Different shades of green would be fine, just something to make you see that each is a continent.
The text on your map key is really hard to read. i suggest something more plain (Arial or TimesNewRoman would work).
This is looking a lot like a cross between Feudal Wars and AoR. I don't know if this would be a good idea for you to attempt. it is very similar to other maps (kinda). Maybe placing it in a different setting would make it better.

The Citadel seems way too powerful. It gets +5, AND it can bombard everything? That's a little crazy, IMO

I love that idea! It is kindof the winning peice.
I would actully bumb the Citadel bonus up to 10 or something.
This is a great idea man. I would love to play it.

because the citadel is so powerful id like to think there is a way to bombard it.....like just annialate it and make it neutral but the idea seems good. it needs some work on a few gameplay stuff and graphics but if u stick with it

Guys... I understand that the point is to hold the Citadel, but I still maintain that at the moment it's way too powerful. Just the ability to bombard every territory makes it extremely important. Whoever begins with it will have a major advantage.
The way I see it, you should do one or both of these two:
1) Reduce the bonus
2) Make it start as a neutral.
I think doing both is preferable.

Alright, I changed the font, and colorized the continents.
However, as of now the colors of the continents do not match those on the
mini-map in the legend. Should the legend be changed to match these
colors? Or are the bold colors better in the legend, as they are easier to
distinguish.

Can you just see it now. Someone trades in a set of cards on escalating worth 50 and just bombards everything. I love it man.
i still say make the citidel worth 10 or so.

That is how i originally conceived it, however I anticipate that people would object.

dude, wasnt there another thread called citadel based on the college?
just wondering, cuz i got really confused when i saw a castle and all that shit.
as for your map. i think the graphics are decent, but they could definitely use a shape up

I like the concept and gameplay a lot. As has been noted the artwork needs to come on a long way. It'd be nice if it didn't look too much like Feudal Wars when it's finished.
A couple of small points:
I suggest using the space currently occupied by the word "Legend" to show the title of the map - ie "The Citadel". Everyone knows it's the legend without the need for a label.
I suggest retaining the 'fancy font' (as currently used for the word "Legend") for the names Lorn, Gort, Arin and Nor immediately below that. After that the clearer smaller font should be used.

Perhaps a way to make the citadel a little less overwhelming is to give its siege weapons a range. Also, siege weapons are no good short range.. so my thought was that the citadel can bombard any waterfront territory, but not on the island? This would restrict it's range a little, and reduce it's massive power to help gameplay.
