when you guys redo the graphics I would highly recommend that you find a way to make attack routes clear from the map... the less one has to read the legend to play a map the better.

By the time you guys get this map finished the Stanley Cup playoffs may finally be over... zzzzzz...

My apologies for being unclear Steven. I wasn't poking fun at your map, but at the NHL whose playoffs - like those of the NBA - seem to roll on for months! #-o

And I can get behind the Red Wings with ya. I like seeing the old teams in the Finals much more than a team like the Phoenix Coyotes or the Tampa Bay Lightning... really, how big a hockey town is Tampa Bay?

It could do with some more mudkips, but otherwise it looks pretty neat to me.

start them off neutral is a great idea

but skyboxes are worth 6 because they can get attacked from more ways then others

I really like the look of the rink now, but not the look of the stands. Also, maybe have NO army circles? this map just screams to me
I DONT NEED ARMY CIRCLES!!!
, i myself thing it would look better (at least in the rink) if there were no army circles, or if the army circles in the rink were centered more

I think the rink will need army circles, no? I don't think those look bad. In fact it all looks much clearer.

I agree that the rink in general look sgreat but the stands look a little off to me. I generally like their construction. I wonder if there is a way to mimic people sitting in them. A bunch of gray heads with 25% opacity maybe? So you have a layer of just gray heads just above each colored continent but with the low opacity so it doesn't affect color appearance too much.

Additional thoughts.

The outline for the outside of the upper stands in particular looks too rough. can you use an oval tool or zoom in and fix it on a pixel level that won't show?

The rink is a dangerous place to be with limited bonuses. How about making each spot on the rank some kind of autodeploy? There is limited value to being on the rink otherwise with only the small goal bonuses.

Can lower seats attack anywhere on the rink? or is there an attack method? What about making each offensive zone plus the center ice zone as separate territories. So you have a way to fort to protect an offensive zone. Another option would be to make an entire offensive zone a continent (goal + faceoffs + offensive zone itself). Then players could fort to the offensive zone to protect from the stands. Otherwise you've got to somehow protect a goalspot that can get hit from 16 territories!

I didn't mean to submit. more comments...

by home area do you mean just the home bench area? no I think you mean home offensive zone? it is unclear. At first I assumed you meant benches.

given how many places can attack zombonis I would increase that bonus. It may be only two, but it ain't no aussie.

I think this map is coming along. I really think we're overdue with some good sports maps. They are high in demand too.

the only way i would put up with them being on the ice rink, would be if the circles were centered on the stuff they're supposed to be on, instead of being looking random

i think your draft was better than his draft, the only thing different is that he has used a picture (probably copyrighted) and also the lines are very jagged and pixelly and the picture doesnt go with the sort of GFX implied on the map - im sure you could easily draw up some much better GFX

did you do the version on paint?

it only takes around 30mins to get a good draft to explain the point

i originally had it so that the zambonis could only be attacked by one terit, and attack only one terit. that's why the bonus was one. stevenJ hasn't adjusted the bonuses... i personally like my way better, because how can all those terits attack the zambonis?
i also think the center ice should have the conquer club logo. :D
on the legend, the stands are labelled different than on the map. they should both be the same, and be what the legend says.
i will ask again... what is the R&R?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
and in the legend you mentioned "home area"... what is that?
could we use more of the same gameplay as in my maps? i personally liked it (duh...), but of course, what does any one else think?

Hi! I'm not a huge hockey buff, but I'm a sports fan through and through. Therefore, I thought this map seemed worth commenting on.

We all remember that this is "just a draft." I feel like it's fairly well thought out in terms of balanced gameplay and base design. I can't imagine this getting promoted to the foundry until a major graphical overhaul has been unveiled.

Specifically, the stands are overwhelmingly bright and large as compared to the rink. I'm actually surprised at the overall size of this map. It hangs off the top and bottom edges of my 17" laptop monitor. Possibly you could recreate the map within the standard size for small map images. Also, I liked how the stands were sectioned in the previous version.

Overall, this could be an interesting map idea.

Good luck,
Laci

Steven has classes, work, and kids lol give him a break
it took me 30 minutes, but i see its not good enough. i originally wanted a 3d-ish looking map, but i'm not much for creating, i'm a modifier. so if you're willing to wait til july (i'll be schooless/jobless) i can dedicate more time, and can even do the xml

i know its crappy i saw its crappy... as a graphic design students this would not be among my best work, it was just something i cooked up in 30 min or less

stop ripping on me
