[Abandoned] - CC's Treasure Island

CC's TREASURE ISLAND

Current Version 4 Build

Already in progress as above/below, but still too raw to post in Drafting; started on this on Friday.

I'm thinking of having:
1. starting positions for each player in the pirate ships; 8 in total, two on each rig.
2. NE2, NE3, NE5 etc represent the routes ashore to find the treasure, but the digits represent the shallowness of the water, and therefore there is a restriction on how many reinforcements can be landed on any of those "coming ashore" terts. For instance, NE2 can only receive two reinforcements at any one time.
3. "Coming Ashore" terts will be starting as neutrals as will other island terts.
4. Once ashore, the rest is simple, classic gameplay to fight towards the treasure.
5. Shape of Island is from the classic book, and some of the names will be also, but it will also be interwoven with names from CC.
6. Love the name of the ship Salvation Street Whore. Hehehe!! :twisted:

I think you should have it like a pirate map. And maybe have it as an objective with a big X marking the spot for the treasure

on second thought, this is pretty different from what I was thinking of.

At first it reminded me of the treasure island idea I was playing around with in AADOMM. Now I see that yours isn't the same as what I was thinking of.
Sorry if it sounded like I was accusing you of anything. Thats not what I meant to do.

it's still very rough, and i don't think i can really comment on it, but in a little bit i'll have something to say other than i think it looks like it would be a good idea

although if i may say, i think only 1 treasure should be fought for

no it's didn't sound like an accusation, but i had been intending to make this map ever since i mentioned it somewhere in one of these threads and questioned the availability/copyright on treasure island

salvation street whore has a nice touch... but it may be inappropriate for the younger crowd of cc?

there's only 1 x, so i assume theres only 1 treasure... but the legend still says +5 for all 4 treasure chests. do you know what you're planning on doing with the treasure at this point?

and as for the shallow waters, when you say the one with 2 on it can only recieve 2 reinforcements, does that mean it can only hold 2 armies on it at any given time? or it can only get 2 placed on it in any one turn or what? i don't quite understand, and is that even allowed w/ xml?

Mmmm. I don't see Whore as being untouchable. I know it is gutteral, but not unrealistic...this is a priate map.
If there is too much reaction however, i will change it.

Yes, still out on that one. You called for 1 treasure previously, but haven't changed the legend yet.

Still formulating that one also. Don't if it can be done yet, that's why this is in Ideas.

i like the 1 treasure, but i think that the way the map is currently laid out, that would be unfair for certain boats.

that can easily be changed though.

i'm assuming that the actual number of territs might change as well right? because the upper left part of the island looks like there is only 1 territ, if i'm not mistaken

All that will change...it is still being built :)

A Family site that has flame wars that is not restricted. I'm sure lots of little toddlers go there also, but you're point is taken and below you'll see that name changed to Salvation Queen.

You'll see lots of changes in this version, but it's still being built.

so shore territs get a +2 bonus, auto deploy of 1 on the water territs

no other bonuses? or is this gonna be up for discussion?

have you looked in on that thing you were thinking about with the shallow water only being able to get 2 forts?

cuz i think that would be cool and realistic.

and i'm not so into the whole resources thing that a lot of the newer maps are doing, but i think this one might be good with it, like an extra bonus for holding a torch that is laying in the jungle or a camp site...

just a couple of thoughts

Yes. I spoke with Yeti_C about the deployment restriction possibility, and what i was after isn't possible in xml yet. But there is killer neutrals and minus bonuses available, but using those would have to be restricted as one would lose too many armies if that was implemented. Yes i thought it would have been a good twist for gameplay.

I wasn't planning on doing resources. Just making it so that boats landed next to each other on adjacent terts (although i haven't got there yet) so they could wipe each other out in the larger games, That would make realistic piracy, wouldn't it.

Mmmmm, still not sure if i want any find bonuses yet. I was thinking of making it +1 for each tert land terts held as well, and maybe -1 if you held terts like the swamps and sand dunes.

PS. i getta get back to bed for more sleep, but please keep the ideas flowing. Thanks :)

Sorry cairns, ideas/suggestions isnt a place to develop if you have a draft. The point of seperating ideas forum was to spilt up the "ideas" from the "developments"
