This looks... I don't know... Quenchable :D ?
The only detail I can come up with is the "Marea Neagra" text. I don't know cause I haven't read everything, but I guess you wanted it to be kinda faded, even more so because it's close to the worn edge of the map. Right?
It makes it pretty hard to read. If you want it to be of no importance, I'd leave it out. If you want to 'educate' ppl who play the map, I'd make the sea more sea-like and give the text a hint more contrast.

Lets see some coordinates images whenever you've got some time between all your work. ;) :D

Indeed, or at least a new link to the code - the old link has expired, it would seem. I'll eyeball the coordinates myself if you can provide links to the XML and large & small maps.

Foregone's not been on since 12th Nov - so I assume he's busy.

Indeed... but is there any reason this can't proceed to Quenching even if he's busy? We have two beautiful maps and an XML file that is stamped, so one last coordinate check and we're done... there's nothing left for Foregone to do other than possible XML corrections while in BETA, and I'm sure we can find a big furry snow monster that would be willing to make a tweak or two if an emergency arose. ;)

he posted the code a page back... I've re-uploaded it.

XML http://www.fileden.com/files/2008/7/30/ ... omania.xml
Large http://img87.imageshack.us/img87/7530/r ... rgevx1.png
small http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/1636 ... allao5.png

I have to say, for such a nice looking map, the coordinate work seems very sloppy. Especially on the large map, there's no rhyme or reason to where the numbers have been placed - some above the name, some below, some centered, some off to one side, some too close to the territory name.

Could you be more specific? Moldova, Oltenia, Munteia, and Dobregea flow together well enough to me. In fact, all I see are Timis, Hunedoara, and to a lesser extent Bithor & Cluj, and I don't find any particularly distracting. (well maybe Timis)

Not sure there's much we can do without the mapmaker around... quenching it now and loading it on the site without the mapmaker's approval could get us into some hot water, since it is foregone's art/property.

The gigantic thick river does not seem to fit in with the rest of the map.

Other than that, the graphics are some of the best I have seen.

These pngs can be saved as high quality jpgs at 1/10 the file size.

sad that this map was 99% done before the mapmaker went AWOL. If foregone returns I hope to get this one playable, but for now it's being shelved.

The point is, he's not here, so he couldn't give someone the O.K. to take it over. I'm sure he'd stay on this, but the whole reason we can't quench it is because he's not able to do anything in his absence.

Your divisions of romania is a mixture of maps.
From the point of view of provinces.Romania is divided in 4 .
From the POV of historical regions in 9
From the POV of euro regions 6
Your map doesent mach any of this
Here is a link to see it for yourself
http://celendo.ro/eng/detalii.php?action=view&c=1&p=374

From the POV of historical regions, 1 of the regions (bucovina)has only 1 district cause the rest of the region is now a part of Ukrain, so it can be put like a district of Moldova

I am just looking at this map for the first time and I know I'm saying this very late in the day, but come on guys!

Is it possible that no one commented about the colour scheme of this map before? I honestly don't have time to read the 20 pages but as you know I am colour blind and it's basically impossible for me to distinguish between the regions of this map. Only after looking at it with a magnifying glass for 5 minutes can I trace the borders.

This shortfall would render this map totally unplayable for me. The colours used are way too similar to each other. Granted...I think the map maker is trying to get an "old paper" effect and it's nice but what's the use if some people can't play the map. Any chance of looking into this issue before it's quenched some day? Thanks.
