If you like medium to large maps then yes, this is not for you. But as to similar to other maps graphically, which other map? This type of comment really does not help me or any map maker and a law should be passed to horse whip all who make unhelpful comments like these.

Thanks nole. Made my day.

OK, apart from the buildings going larger, any other requests?

please consider darkening your red bg
it would help having a more contrasted graphic

If you mean the frame, then yes, will make it darker.

If the blue boys say it is OK, I will get it done.

I don't see why not. We have France 1789 with French names, I believe the Iberia map has the names in the respective languages. Also Nordic countries does the same thing. thenobodies80 can correct me, but as long as the names are readable, then there should not be a problem. Just please don't try a map with oriental characters in the legend and the map!

Names can be in any language, the important thing is that the players are able to read them easily.
Instructions/legends and all parts that have a similar function on the map needs to be utterly servient to the fact people will have to understand how to play the map without use a translator. So those parts need to be in English.

Said that if you want to add another text, like a story or anything else that is there mostly for aesthetic purpose (so players can play without read it), then you can write it just in spanish. ;)

Just a thought, but I don't remember Madrid being all that green. This map seems a but "lush" for city that is often hot and dry. Good job overall though, my 2 cents :)

I chose green for the backing as it looks nice and also Madrid has the largest inner city park in the world.

OK, i am still of the opinion that the map is too cluttered.
less buildings and trees would help.
i said that the former versions were good with larger buildings, because there were less of them , but if you intend to increase the building sizes back again to somewhat larger versions, then yes, there needs to be less of them.
I am also not so sure about the outlying back ground. Is that meant to be material like Jakarta. I am thinking that it doesn't fit well with the texture of the city map itself.
Also, i went looking for some of these attractions, but most of them are hidden with other buildgins. Bit of a loss that is.
Not sure what that blue piece with the post and four dots is at the top?
I like the people, but some regions have them and others do not.
And in all of this busyness with buildings etc, where are the army numbers going to go. Some regions will be a bit squashed- eye space wise. :?

Cairns, thanks for getting back with this.
Buildings will go larger.
Will bring out the ones that the territs are named after.
Background is not Jakarta but will keep it as I do like it and others have also said so as well.
Blue at the top with four dots is a man made lake.
Too many people made the map cluttered. Imagine if I bunged people onto this map. It was never my intention to put people into all but some to give the city life.
Army numbers on this map fit very well but you are right. Some just have space and in the small, only the 88 (not 888) would fit.

Thanks for that, will get on with the next draft now.

the text for los sacramentinos is cut off by the outer ring road.

retiro park is the only region name in english, while the rest are all in spanish, so it makes sense to change this to spanish too.

there are too many shades of blue representing the river and various lakes. why not have just one?

ian. :)

Frame is darker. The brown background stays as is.

Could not find one that I liked. A lot where about terrorism and did not want that for the map. If anyone can find a nice poem, then will put that on.

Name changed. Water now all the same. Removed offending name from map.

Things done.
Frame changed.
Buildings bigger.
Less buildings.
Territ lines redrawn to reflect building changes.
Font change.

Just fixed the mistakes from last time.
Buildings behind Retiro Park and Plaza de Tores moved up a tad to correct scale.
Moved woman and priest in territs so not behind name and on building.
Turned on glow layer.
Fixed the Madrid green layer that went over the outer ring road in pink region.

retiro parque ought to be parque del retiro.

as i explained earlier, i believe that parroquia means parish church, of which there are many in madrid and los sacramentinos has no better claim to this word than any other. in fact, searching for parroquia madrid on google finds santa cristina, which is elsewhere on our map, and many other churches, but not the one we want!

the water certainly looks less confusing now, except the eponymous lake of the lago de la casa de campo region is too close to the river and almost exactly the same width, so it's no longer identifiable as a lake.

Taken it back to the previous name. When I changed the font, I used the old name by mistake.

Lake now 50 thinner. With all of the water done the same, all will look the same.

As for the CB text, visicheck is still not working for me. I had to get screen grabs like I did for Labs.

I think you're going to have to add the stroke from around the bonus text to the text on the rest of the map, the red outline completely blends into the green background under vischeck, you may also get away with a few extra ticks higher on the size of your font, for additional clarity.

Much better koontz...less buildgins etc. for my eyes anyway and certainly less crowded.
I don't know about the region colours for the CB test...there could be confusion in there ;)

Added the stroke, but cannot go bigger with the text.

Colours look fine to me under the CB texts. I made sure their was enough difference between them under all 3 CB tests.

quick drop by and 2 remarks for improving yours graphics

no offence but personally I found cheap and ugly the coloured outline effect around your fonts
at least try a drop shadow or a fading outline
or maybe colour inside and a thin black outline

orange border north around the lake is different from the one below

keep going =D>

Coloured outline for the text is their for the bonuses. Had the outline and it did not work for CB reasons. Will try the drop shadow effect then next but I am sure that will also be affected by the CB tests. The border around the lake is different is because to the north it is a road and to the south it is a path within the park.

EDIT: Had a look at the text. The only other way to keep the colours for the bonuses and have it legible for the CB test is to colour the text itself with a faint black outline. This is the result but the colours stand out too much IMO.

Second Edit:
Small map. Not current but done to see sizing issues.
