tsk tsk Rb.... You haven't done your homework! ;)

Last I checked the limit is indeed 840x800 pixels.

nice, really nice :)

- that weird splotch in Tetovo... did you accidentally erase part of the texture?

actually the dark part is mountain and the bright part is valley. It looks a bit strange here, but that is how the relief looks like :)

@isaiah40
As for the river going in Serbia, that would be both gameplay bad and geographical inaccurate. Maybe the river can be changed how to look at its end (I, personally, am fine with this solution), but it shouldn't be extended further

That was my other suggestion. Either way it'll be good as right now it looks like it just stops dead in it's tracks.

Damnit, I mixed up 840 and 630 reversing the middle numbers... 8-[

Since when is snow black? The mountains look really weird with black tops and green bottoms.

cmon man, its a symbol, an icon, an graphic representation that sits well with the rest of the map, you have that kind of stuff all over the maps in conquerclub, dont tell me you dont understand that...

but, of course - i will try to make something more realistic.
remember that this is still a draft for the 1.7 version...

I don't think the mountains looked weird at all. Not every mountain is snow-capped, and not every mountain is covered with vegetation all the way up, either.

I know, but to me I think it is the contrast between the green and black that makes it look odd to me.

Well the skopje river looks much better now. Also I like the mountains better.

You should start the small map now. I'm a bit concerned about some territories, not sure if the numbers will fit in them on the small version...

Well, me too...
The whole numbers business is something i am yet to study more closely.
I will try not to use the circles, i think it would be bad for the design but we shall see how it turns out in the end...

Should i use numbers images from the first post here:
viewtopic.php?f=127&t=48259
?

Should i use three digits also (there are no three digit image files?) ?

Can someone please explain the numbers implementation, what should be done, not the how, do i just put the two and three digit numbers files on the map (both big and small) and post it here ?

(I read the post linked above and the instructions about army numbers here
viewtopic.php?f=468&t=105184
)

Put the army numbers on a separate layer on your map image file.

Note that these army numbers are just for testing purposes. The real army number locations will be determined by the XML.

3-digit numbers:

With the tools we now have at hand, is there any reason to put these numbers on by hand? Why not use chipv's Map XML Wizard and whip up a rough draft of the XML, and then use the Map Inspect tool to get images of the map with the numbers in their actual locations?

If you need a hand with the XML, n.n., I would be glad to whip it up for you.

Just to be clear, post the map image with the 888 is certainly welcome, but nobody forces you to do so.
If you already have your XML "ready", you can simply post in this thread the links of your map images (respectively large and small version) and your xml link.
Who wants to see the results can use the links you provided with the tools we have on the site and then leave here the suggestions ;)

I really like the V1.7, but personally i'm not a fan of all those straight borders. In the same time i've to admit that they suit perfectly with the style of your map. After all is only a personal preference and not a real issue... :)
I'm really happy to see how this map is so userfriendly, everything is very clear and readable and this means that you have only to squeeze your skill to obtain the best possible graphics for this map, just a refinement of some small things imo.....by the way, maybe i missed it, but there's a small version somewhere?

A question: Have you tried a horizontal text (one or two lines) instead of a vertical one for the text in brackets that define what are the areas with the lakes? Maybe with a smaller font? :-k

As far as army numbers go, the important thing is to ensure that the correct sized numbers will fit in the territories, on both the large and small maps.

Graphically the mountains still bug me a little bit - it would be nice to see the background colour of the regions show through them, and for the edges of the mountains to break naturally along territory borders. Something a little like this (my version is to the right):

Come on guys, you can do it! ;)

I like this map, and would hate to see it get tossed aside like so many others that have gotten to this stage and stalled.
