So by request I created a map just of germany, and i'm glad I did. I think this new map turned out better then the other one. But give me some suggestions and i'll improve both maps some more and put it up to a vote in a poll to see which map is more liked. let me know what you think and ifyou have any suggestions....

Must say I like the later better than the last one, even though i'm curious about West Germany. If I read the map right, Hemeln is not in touch with any of the other WG countries, although that could prove to be an intresting challenge. But in that case 6 armies is almost too little for it...

What if it was a one way border, where you could cross from Hannover to Hemeln, but not the other way back?

Just a thought.

I kind of like how the territory is split up like that, maybe it should be worth more like 7 or 8 tho.

Ok...
So i'm hoping this is near completion. With the exception of some final suggestions by you guys, here is what the germany map looks like now.

I decided to make the map just of germany. I have added some more natural boundaries and have also added more countries. 38 in total now i believe. I think added some art, and there ya go. I think its done, but i wanna hear from you guys before i start working on the code.

A couple random thoughts:

Hessen has more countries and more border countries than Rheinland, but they both have the same bonus. Perhaps Hessen should be worth 4 armies.

Cutting off Hemeln from the rest of West Germany seems like a bad idea that could just make people not bother even trying to take that continent. Anyone who can collect on the bonus probably already owns Hessen and most of East Germany, and thus probably doesn't need the extra armies as much anyway.

(Also, it's looking good. I particularly like the background.)

Well, with some effort we can still have 42 armies, I believe. Some territories like Bremen, Koln and Schwerin are ready to be splitted.

Yeah, its getting a good shape, but isnt done yet.

Pleeeease correct that river route. A continent where the countries are not connected is a dead one. Im talking about Hemeln, of course. You can change the river, or add the country for the othe continent.

There are some problems too. I wont even discuss the bonuses, we can do it after you modify the map. Im now worried because East Germany is very difficult to hold, while West Germany and Hessen are too easy (Im assuming you will change Hemeln to Hessen). I suggest:

1) Put a river between Sachsen / Magdeburg and Prussia. After, delete the river between Luneburg / Wolfsburg and Schwerin.

2) Delete the river between Halberstadt, Hannover and Osnabruck and Hemeln.

Even after these, all continents will have 3 border countries at maximum. To make some continents more difficult to hold, maybe split some border countries will be the best thing. it can be easily done in Bavaria, for example.

I thougth having Hemeln seperated might make game play interesting, but if you guys really dont like it that much i'll change that. And i'll also take your advice marv and change the rivers around some.

no they are not crossable. Its the only way i could split up the countries other then actually splitting them up like the USA map. And i didnt want to do that.

I like it. If it were me, I'd probably reduce West Germany's bonus to five (since it only has nine countries and four borders) and raise Prussia to three (since it has six countries), but that's just a personal opinion. I wouldn't have any complaints if you submitted it as it is.

For the image itself, just resizing this will be fine. But yeah, you will need to redo the coordinates for the new image size. If you want to wait a couple days, though, I'm going to be releasing a program that should make that a lot easier.

Resizing will probably be much more diffiicult than you think. I assume this is the big version, so some names can be unreadable after the resizing. You will probably need correct some borders problems, too (borders a bit unclear after resizing)... Anyway, we need discuss the bonuses yet, I will comment possibly tomorrow (Im busy now).

I think the background is a little offputting for some reason... Realise I'm late with the comment, but still thought I'd throw in my two cents.

The flag or the country texture? I really like the flag background, personally.

The flag I meant, I think it distracts from the map itself.

Em... I think it's trial and error... I assume you've seen http://www.conquerclub.com/mapmaker/index.php

Then I think it's just a matter of comparing the co-ordinates it gives with the ones that are displayed in your graphics editing program and finding a pattern. Somebody said somewhere it was like +20 difference but I think it varies.

In a day or two I hope to release a utility program that'll help with this. I just want to test it a bit on the Discworld map I'm working on first.
