I changed some territories around so that Kowloon isn't touching every other region. Is three 4-border regions too many? Maybe I'll knock one of them down to a 3-border.

So the regions now shape up like this:

Countries - Borders - Attack Routes
Lantau 4-2-2 = 2
New Territories 10-4-7 = 6 (7?)
Kowloon 7-4-6 = 5 (6?)
Plover Cove 6-4-5 = 4 (5?)
Hong Kong 6-3-3 = 3
Sai Kung 9-3-5 = 5

Oh yeah.. I finally toned down the ocean a bit. Better?

Comments please. :)

I like it very much, preferred the darker ocean, but nobody else did. Great map.

Great map, ready to be quenched, I believe. And I would opt for the lower bonuses, casper.

                  Final Forge

---The Hong Kong Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. There will be two days for you to post any objections; if no one has posted any protest after two days the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. If after two days there is still discussion going on it may continue until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

I don't think there needs to be anything extra on this map bcz then I think it would be too busy. And I like the new ocean color the other was a little hard to see and sometimes would confuse people when they seeing what conected to what. I don't have any complaints and I think our two days are up anyways, so can this be quenched?

It's near completion.
    Casper
    • Post an image of the Large Map with the xml coordinates in their appropriate spots, so I can check and make sure everything is lined up.
    • Do the same thing with the Small Map.

Once I see those, we'll see if there are any more concerns or issues that need to be addressed.

[modo action] Fake Quench by Reverend. ;) [/modo action]

                  Quenching

The Final Forge period has concluded for the North America Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for live play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!

He has to receive a special code from me for that to work. ;)

There still might be some concerns, I'll look into them tomorrow.

North America map? if you want to pretend to quench something, at least do it properly.

A few concerns I have, is that the small map may have a few minor problems
  • The army shadow circles barely are large enough to fit the numbers. But changing them might be difficult and a hassle, due to the limited space and time it takes. But I a lot of people play on the small map, and it should be beautiful.
  • Again, since the small map is just the large shrunken, many of the names are a little hard to read. They are legible, granted, but is it possible to make the names slightly bigger or bolder?
  • As for the visuals it is a near beautiful map. One thing I feel is a little odd, Red China's flat surface doesn't seem to mesh well with contoured and textured areas on the rest of hte map. Also the image use looks slightly fuzzy.

* i could enlarge the circles on the small map. but it is a pain so only if you feel it's really necessary. as it is i think they are just big enough

* how's this version of the small map? see below. i sharpened it up a bit so the names stand out a bit more.

* i intended for the china part to be flat like the china flag. the fuzziness is due to jpg compression. i can save at higher quality but the file size will increase.

Regarding the small version...
  • The names are clearer and easier to read now. But I still feel they may be a little bit too small. Maybe others can chime in and if others feel the way I do, perhaps you should look into increasing the names slightly, since in most areas there is ample room. If no one else seems to agree, then we can keep things the way they are concerning the names.
  • As for the circles, I feel the numbers are scrunched in there. Two digits barely fit, nearly breaking the army shadow barrier. I would love to see them enlarged slightly.
  • Regarding China, I understand the flag idea, I just like to see a map uniform in texture, but it may be better to show no texture as you have it, seeing as China is not a part of the game board.
  • Looking closer at the small map, I wouldn't mind enlarging the bottom legend slightly. But that is just something of personal preference.

Also...
  • The XML needs a bit of tweaking. There are some varying central points that take away from the map visually. Sheung Shi's looks nearly dead on perfect, but others do not:
      • Tai Po and Fan Ling
      • Yeun Long and Tsing Yi
      • Dabu and Tai Mo Shan
  • Those are just a few examples. Also, is it just me, or does only half the large map above appear?
