I'll have to agree. Other mapmakers are able to find 8 distinct colours (even for the colour-impaired). Having 4 separate bonus areas with the same two colours aren't cool, even if no-one is confused by it.

Have either of you ever looked at an old map? There are generally only about 4 colors. I like how this one turned out.

I like it too. I would like it better with different colours, though.

No biggie. Don't really care.

Yes, I have. But this isn't an old map, nor should anyone mimic an old one. All maps need to be original, but this one is too bland. Look at the one before the revamp, all the colors lined up great bar the gray which was a slot filler. Nevertheless, it did fit the region. This region in Canada does not fit the green, yellow, or blue climate color people associate it with. Why should it be left do dull when it can be bright and full of life? Creating this map, that was one of my goals. Attracting attention to this region, not just remaking an old map.

Color blind(Impaired, which ever you prefer), like this map; however, it is bland to the others. There is a middle ground where everyone can have the advantage, this option is having a differ in color.

I personally do not see a reason why this is such a big request. It will give more life to the map and make it even more fun to play for both the colored and uncolored seeing players. Tisha, what is your take?

U2.

For what it's worth, I offer the colours I used in my entry (#1) to use if you like. Those are colourblind-proof and I think fit the theme as well... http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/8840/gulf5s.png

Really, don't sit here an tell me my map is dull, or not bright. Not original, when I made it. Maybe adjust your screen..

I don't even know what you mean when you say

"This region in Canada does not fit the green, yellow, or blue climate color people associate it with."

And why shouldn't anyone mimic an old map? The region has old French history, and that where my idea flowed from. Most of the older maps only used three to four colors. I think to take that away would ruin the whole style I used.. that people did vote for.
Changing the colors isn't a middle ground, and I doubt it will satisfy you... you're saying you don't like the whole style.

The coloring looks fine to me, it looks like an old map, a little bright for the time period IMO, but they work for everyone. So I say let's not argue over the colors and just get the XML done so we can get this into Beta!! Can we all at least agree on that?

I'd still like to see the map images with 888:s to be sure they all fit properly.

Looks to me like they'll fit easily on the small version anyhow.

Forgive me for not uploading this somewhere.. Time crunch and I lost my old ripway account login.

This was the latest (Forza checked and approved) xml from the last time the map made a run through the foundry. All of the borders are correct, per the original approval of the gameplay, as well as the bonuses, and the force of splitting up the regions to prevent getting dropped a bonus, or something along those lines... Only the co-ordinates should need changed, unless there was any big XML reader updates. Mind you this was written maybe.. a year ago or so, can't remember exactly.

show: Golfe du St. Laurent XML

Feel free to use it to save some time, or re-write it. Whatever floats your boat. Glad to see this map finally getting into the Beta stage. :)

There would be a color problem if she used the colors as the only indication in the legend to represent bonuses. The use of a mini-map makes it not need any more colors than 4., technically. The color scheme matches the history like this, and I'd say Tisha has a knack for getting old looking maps down (li.e First Nations Maps). Looks swell. =D>

Wellll.... everything looks pretty much ok, just a few details / tweaks I'd like to suggest...

Laurentides label could go slightly up to make room for the number. Just a pixel or two.
Similarly, Montreal label could go a pixel or two down.

Bas St. Laurent seems a bit problematic... perhaps you could put "Bas" and "St." on the same line, since the label goes over the line anyway... I don't know, could be worth a shot. It currently looks kinda cramped, though.

Lanaudiere's number position just a tidbit to the left?

If you do this, Tisha, be sure not to have the letter "l" close off that bridge to Montérégie.

It was mentioned already, way back here, but it may have been overlooked, so another mention is not out of line.

Sept-Rivières? Hummm, I would suggest Sept-Iles, the name of the town there. better known that way to local people.

Replace the è with è in the xml file. It's html code for è and it works in xml too.
