This looks good. If you could make it a bit larger then more of the names could perhaps fit in the territories.

orange has four borders , maybe best for gameplay you should make it so that the islands are only connected to the continent they belong to

the point of the island is so that thei isnt an opertunntie for one army to build at one end of the map and work their way to the other

a couple things...

-youll need to make a larger map too, thats a good size for a small map...
-you dont need the vertical 'bonus' in the legend
-the region names in the legend need some sort of border on the text or a shadow dropped
-the font you use on the map doesnt have a crisp look to it, its kinda blurry...this might be coming from your jpeg compression...use png or a non compressed format if you can...
-id look to use a texture in the ocean and on the countries
-the box around maderia should be a full box with a bottom line I think...
-are the islands included in the 'region' bonuses? if they are its not clear...
-your sig seems too small

overall I think you need to work on giving it a little more pizazz...

hmmm, i think this is a good map, however algrave recieves only a 2 bonus with 4 boarders, whereas north recieves 3 with 3 boarders. this seems a bit off. also can you make the white dots a tiny bit clearer, i have poor eyesight and have to squint to see which connects to which (hence i may be wrong about the boarders)

also when you said you didnt want people to take on end and build up. you really have to expect this on a map where you can block one end with 4 territories. so i dont think giving smaller bonuses will stop this.

otherwise i think its very good :D just a few small things and i look forward to playing it!

Bonuses:
Central should get 7 as it has 7 access points.
Algarve should have at least 3 as it has 4 access points.

Suggestion: Why not use Portuguese for the names North and Central?

Continent borders are a tad too dark and not of the same thickness. Maybe you can refine them a bit?

What do you mean by coding...XML?

there are too many borders though for the small bonuses, orange has four borders and only 2 bonus

red has a whopping 7 borders for a 5 bonus, no-one will ever be able to hold that continent thus making the bonus null and void in regards to game play

keep the islands in because as you said they are good for spreading gameplay from one side to the other but you should def put in some impassable borders around the place

the new dots are excellent much clearer! glad to know i had some input to a map :D nad yeah i think the bonuses need to be increased. otherwise its to hard to hold any.

but otherwise very good, just pretty it up a tad and go with what the other map makers suggest and itll be very good :D

Ive evened out the continent borders but i didnt lighten them due to the fact i only just discovered i merged that layer with the backgroud one.

Im half way through the XML as well i COULD have this map done in a couple of hours ;)

I think Central should have 7. Consider the access points and not only the attack points.

However you have too many access points in this map. You will have to create impassable borders like rivers or mountains to compensate for that.

North East Portugal should be shortened. Maybe N. E. Portugal? The name there is a little long.

That name needs to be changed altogether. Get out a map of Portugal and find a more suitable name.
