the tents are to large. Im liking the quarry idea but unsure about its size thought.

and you really need to read teh 1st post. that explains that the merc camp only give a bonus if its owned with the gold mine.

However im grateful for your enthusiasim and feedback thanxs ;)

considering the sizes of the houses, i think you could easily make the tents bigger, i dont think that a bit of light in a clearing looks too clear. i think you make your tents the same size as the northern-most building in the southern village (the small square one), maybe have one big fire in the middle to make it more clear.

(i dont what you think about this but you could add some symbols to the map, i will post a example of symbol and what i think the quarry should look like in a minute, need to make some first.

interesting idea for a map, my only suggestion would be to redraw over the borders, they look very unnatural. it's hard to elaborate on what I mean, but the borders look weird (not the lines itself, but the borders)

here is my idea for symbols on the map shown in picture from for example the symbol for a castle, and the symbol for the camp:

Could not do the quarry could not get it to look right, im sure you can make one anyway.

no symbols. [-X

he's trying hard to make a realistic landscape, there's no point in spoiling it with symbols.

ok one other thing,

what are you planning to do about your castles, are you going to make them all the same? make some just keeps, some neo-gothic, some motte and bailly?

if i have time i might show you how i think different castles should look.
(if you are unlucky i will)

the trees are nice.
the merc camp is not that good.

i mean a merc camp would either have tents (nomad mercs) or it would be a small wooden fortress in the middle of a forest.

i'd peronally prefer the wooden fortress. make a round wooden wall with a big fire in middle and some huts around the fire.

i'm at work and i don't have fireworks. when i get home i'll experiment and see if i can find a way. in the meantime you can also experiment.

If you go for the mercenary tents then I think they should be round or octagonal or something more romanesque.. though the palisades suggested also sound good.

rest of the map looks great!

to make a palisade i get a brown circle, then make one side lighter, and the other a bit darker, then copy and paste it to make a circle,
example shown below:
Image
this was done using a brown cross, then using gimp i burnt the bottom pixel and the bottom right pixel, then dodged the top pixel and the top left one, then added yellow to the middle to make it look like the wood had bu cut to make a spike.

here is a step by step for my wooden walls, but it is created for gimp, you might still be able to use it though, i put images in to help.

feel free to ask questions, if it does not make sense.

I think you should have people around, would it be hard to make it a gif, and have them moving round the villages.

if i have time i might see if i can create a example.

I like it.

how much more work are you planning to do on the camp, because the palisade does not look too good.

I think you should make the villages bigger, maybe either make the buildings bigger, or add more buildings to the villages.

Maybe add more roads and paths around the map, maybe add some fields and stuff around the villages.

The camp still needs alot of work. It seem whenever i transfer the map from ma laptop to my desktop the quality chages which has resulted in the wooded post not lookign so good.

The vilages were made smaller becasue i want teh castle to look hugh in comparison

Telvannia wrote:Maybe add more roads and paths around the map, maybe add some fields and stuff around the villages.

Roads will be put in once i do the castles and i paln on doing extra scenery at some point.
