              Final Forge

---The South America Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry furnace and have exmined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

A bit early for me to post, but it also gets everything on the latest page.

Congrats on FF - Looking good Edbeard...

A slight concern I have is the Mendoza name - it might look like it's a break in the mountains?!

Does it? I'm not sure... what do you reckon...

I reckon that you're crazy because it doesn't look like that to me.

Or, it could just be that I edited the image a bit just now per your suggestion and edited my post above. If this were the case, refreshing your browser would let you see the updated image.

But, I'll go with "yeti_c. you crazy"

edit: Don't forget to congratulate Marvaddin too!!

this is his map as much as it is mine.

so Marv, thanks partner! it was a crazy ride, but well worth it. I think we did a swell job.

- I can see the difference (Cos you didn't update the test images!) - like it perfect... although bizarrely the M's on the large map look more like N's... but not on the small map!!!

And congrats to Marv too - the guys behind the map often don't get congratulated mumble mumble AOR mumble

OK. I figured out that putting a space before the M makes the M look like an actual M.

Also I decided to move Chubut and Paraguay's labels a bit since I was doing all this.

changes are above again. so refresh those browsers.

Nice one... (just to confirm - the island in the top right IS an N isn't it?) (Fernando de Noronha)

yes it is an N

every other name starting in M was fine, but that layer was just being difficult

Thanks all :)

Yes, edbeard, it was a pleasure to me work with a nice guy like you, I hope we can work together again soon :D

Oh, and lets say... design a map based on natural aspects is more difficult than based on political borders, and if Im correct, this is the first continent map based on natural aspects... Great! 8)

found a mistake in my XML. Had Pampas bonus as 3 (from old version) instead of 2.

edited the link to the XML in the above post, and you can find it here if you don't want to scroll up

The map is looking superb. I don't see much else. I'd maybe consider adding more of a black outline around the legend text (though that may take away from the soft color feeling).

Also, the attack route from Amapa to Ceara...could you make the black dashes touch land? (As all your other ones do, just thought you might want to make it expertly uniform. ;))

Also, can we see both the large and small version with 3 digit coordinates?

Pardon my idiot language, but adding any more border to the text in the legend made it look quite retarded, and less readable.

The attack route change I implemented and kept.

I agree that the legends is a little difficult to read, but it doesnt affect gameplay so there no real problem. But maybe try the glow you did with the terr names for hte legends? see how it goes. . .

But im happy with it the way it is at the moment.

i agree a light glow would make the legend better

Any smaller and the glow isn't there practically. Any larger and I think it looks stupid.

I don't think it adds anything honestly.

Just to ensure that when the map leaves the Foundry, there is no extreme overlapping of names/other coordinates.
