OK, but now the large map size seems to throw off the tert. locations. everything seems fine on small size. but large is way out of proportion and unplayable.

anyway. i like the map. so thanks for making it.

WILLIAMS5232, thanks for posting that.
Problem was i saved the large file as a .png at 2.6MB and uploaded to photobucket who then resized the image at 91% which is waht you see on the large play version.

This new file (which i'll get off immediately) less than 1Mb and photobucket has saved at the correct size of 800x773.

Hi Cairns, you've got a wonderful map here, as ever (perhaps even your best to date).

I've just one thing to mention today:
Some random fuzziness in the legend. It doesn't seem to be a problem for most, but I thought you might be willing to take a look at it.

I see this across all of that legend board, and the rest of the map seems very crisp.

Maybe it would just be a case of redoing the text?

This particularly on the small version.

Actually, just looking at the map image on the first page of this thread (following on from my previous post in this thread), it seems that this is another map which suffers from file compression (like Rail Europe).

@nobodies,
whatever you did for Rail Europe, would it be possible to do for Waterloo?

I was bringing this up in another thread, but this is another map that has an ambiguous key. Particularly, there is no way of determining from the key which farm houses can be bombarded and if so from where

I think it's okay. The farm houses which can be bombarded have a red infantry peg in them, and the part of the legend about artillery explains that blue artillery can bombard red infantry on the same side of the road.

I will reiterate this as well.

Open the following 2 links in different tabs and compare them:

Available map image:

Currently used map image:
http://maps.conquerclub.com/Waterloo2.S.jpg

The former is much nicer in every way.

MB, from my end, i submit .png files for uploading.
The site however, compresses these for players uses and uses the .jpg format.
File are compressed by up to a 2/3.
There is nothing i can do about this.
You had best speak to the "man" ;)

Hey MB, thank you for pointing that out. I seriously spent about 5 to 10 minutes looking at this map before I posted trying to find some indication and I completely missed that. I'm glad to see that it is addressed on the map.

The big HOWEVER to that is that I still managed to miss that after who knows how many times playing the map and the further effort that I put in trying (and failing) to ensure that I wouldn't post something stupid in this thread. I'd say that overall, this would downgrade my issue from something that should be resolved to something that could be resolved.

Unlike some other maps that I've seen, I'm not sure that there is a very clear method of resolution. Now that you've pointed out to me what I didn't see before, I think that the current method map resolves the issue in one of the most obvious ways possible. If I was here from the beginning, I might have suggested that the infantry symbol be placed over the yellow portion of the farms (and the territ circles moved slightly to accommodate this), but at this point that may be more effort than it's worth. Maybe the infantry symbols could be given a slight outline or shadow to enhance the contrast between that and the underlying squares, but this still requires some work and most likely requires that the original layered file is still in existence (and ofc that cairns agrees and is willing to do it).

Another option is to add text to the key, but the key is already fairly text heavy, so I can see why that wouldn't really be an option. Furthermore, what more would you add? For me, the obvious text to add would be something like "farmhouses can only be bombarded if they house enemy infantry", but where would that go? It's a lot of text to throw on the map.

So, cairns, if you like any of these ideas, feel free to use them, but I understand why you'd want to leave it as is. Thanks again to MB for pointing out that detail that I completely missed.

Replace the current images with images of better quality, like what I did with your Rail map.

Oh OK...let me examine the request above from agentcom first, so you don't have to do things twice....unless you've already done it. ;)
