Re: feedback

i think the original bonus of 6 is suitable for anillo central; the new one of only 5 is too small. anillo central is very similar to iberia's castilla la mancha continent which, just like anillo central, has 7 territories, of which 5 are border territories; also like anillo central, it is located in the middle, so that nearly every continent can attack it directly. castilla la mancha has a bonus of 7.

http://www.conquerclub.com/maps/Iberia.S.jpg

in the anillo central box, the name for veracruz is diagonal. all other names on the map are straight left to right. it'll look better if veracruz also reads straight across from left to right.

i'm liking this map a lot. would some texture improve the look of the land, or would texture make the map less clear?

the borders between Noroeste and Norte need a bit of a darker colour.

1. I feel the same.
2. I guess you're right, I must keep the desinging scheme.
3. Let me try some experiments.

OK, that will be changed next version.

Thanks for the suggestions to everyone.

VERSION 5

Postby fumandomuerte on Mon Mar 17, 2008 6:50 am

VERSION 5
SMALL 600x391
Image
30 Terits
5 Seaports
7 Continents
2 Sub continents
-Changed the bonus for the Anillo Central region from 5 to 6.
-Translated the sea names to the spanish form.
-Added some texture to the land.
-A little touch-up to some graphic elements like the terits names.
-The neutrals are shown (ports).

Is the gameplay OK or should I make a major change?
Have fun and keep coming to the map foundry, Vladi (fumandomuerte).

Been waiting for this update! It looks amazing! Love the textures. Having looked for 5 minutes, I honestly can't see anything that needs changing.

if you look at the mexican flag, the colour scheme used on the map makes perfect sense.

as for the map itself, I have no complaints.

I think it should read:

"Ports don't form part of any continent."

Anyone care to confirm my grammar?

Neither Do I 8) . I Think the size of Noroeste is almost the area of all the red-ish regions, that makes some balance with the flag colors.

You could also say: "Ports aren't a part of any..."

Could you shunt Tampico Port up a couple of pixels - to make it 100% certain it's attached to Tamaluipas?

I'm having trouble with the same block of text. I think I'd lose the word "form" and break it up a bit...

"Ports are not included in continent bonuses; they can attack other ports in the same sea."

I'd like to see the borders in the inset map pop out a little bit more - something about the inset makes it hard to look at. Maybe the red is too radioactive looking?

Hmm I don't like that blown up Anillo Central region. I think it will be confusing for many players.

Can't that region be modified to fit in the main page?

Also the colours of the regions don't look very good either. I know you're trying to replicated the Mexican flag but I think they could be improved by adding better looking shades of the same colours.

I don't really agree with this. Bamboo Jack uses a similar feature, and that is far more awkward to work out what goes where.

I wanted to carry on the discussion about the bonuses, particularly for the Sur and Golfo regions. I try to get bonuses based on how many territories you need to defend to hold them. The Sur region, currently worth +2, requires you defend all 3 territories to hold it. The Golfo region, currently worth +3, only requires defense of 2 territories to hold the bonus.

Is this consistent with other maps? I personally would make a strategic decision to set-up somewhere besides Sur.

This is just a point that merits discussion. I really like the map, and I think the blow-up of the central region is an interesting feature.

Best,
Laci

Look again, with the port, you need to hold 3 borders for the Golfo region. And the extra territories within it make it a +3.

This needs an update, I was looking forward to it!

it is visually striking, isn't it?

there needs to be a key to say that GTO is guanajuato, QRO is querétaro and DF is distrito federal, since most people don't know these abbreviations. we can create some space for the key by making the map taller.
