I would like to stamp this....colours have been given ahead from oaktown for colour-blind issues...

Changes In This Version:
1) Volcano Added modified to look not-floating - Mmmm, OK passable but others are still having issues it seems....but that won't hold up the stamp (not for me)
2) River in Vienlorre reinserted - Great
3) Minimap Biceror island made more like the real map - Great
4) Moved some army circle placements around to avoid the overlap problem Cairns pointed out - Great
5) Added a bit more to the Rol keys to show the blue color more clearly - Great
6) Tweaked a few small islands around the title - Great
7) Darkened the glow on Biceror to make it more visible and similar to other continents - Great
8] Made the small the correct size. -Fab.

From the image above, now that i re-examined...are you sure you won't go with army shadows to make some differentation between some island colours and those of the army digits??
Some of the islands colours are too close for comfort and may appear to be difficult to find.

I'd like to see that new version with all the correct array of colours of the armies on each island group if you would...i don't want this to be an issue before getting into FF.
If there are no issues with that i'll stamp. :)

yes the river looks absolutely splendid!

as is the general consensus, I feel that the volcano is still not 'quite' right. Although i think it is getting better with every tweak! ;)

I am really just throwing-out random thoughts and seeing if something sticks .. but if you increases the shading to define the lip of the crater.. that would give the volcano more depth and it may help the overall visual affect?

As for the army circles, we had a poll about them and no circles overwhelmingly won. Since no one seems to have a color problem, I think we're okay without them.

ZeakCytho...one colour of each of the 8 army colours on each of the different islands if you would....doesn't matter if some double up. As stated this is simply to gauge whether red on red sits well, and same for other colours.

OK. But from that map i pulled up, you may have to place something under some of those colors, or change the island colours if they are exactly the same and it is difficult to determine where the army numbers are. This is not something that a few people can really decide, because you have to cater for the entire player community with the aspect.
Regardless of what the poll determined, it can be overridden by your decision if it is justified to change it so that there are no colour issues in this regard. :)

How's this? I think I got one of each color on each continent. For the continents with less than 9 territories (oh, all but one of them ;)), I picked colors that I thought would be the hardest to see. Ignore some of the weirdness, like that line on the left in the small. This is why Mjinga does graphics, not me :lol:

OK...most look good enough to proceed. But please understand that if there is an issue with this for any players then we would ask you to change something to clarify the legibilty.
Also, this stamp does not indicate that the mountain issue is resolved, but you should continue to work towards improvement until players are happy with it.
I like your proactive approach and willingness to take on board suggestions. Keep up the good work.

I'm open to tweaking the minimap a bit, but as I said, I'd like to keep large sections of land so the color is easily visible. This means not being totally realistic, but I think it's okay.

Mjinga and I are working on fixing the volcano and on maybe adding army circles back in - version 16 will hopefully fix the volcano and perhaps reintroduce the circles, if we both think they look good and improve visibility.

i agree with you on the mini-map.. it does not need to slavishly reflect a scaled down version of the main map. I think that the mini is an impression rather than a carbon copy lends more class and impact in this particular case.

As long as no reasonable person could possibly be confused by the slightly differing bonus shapes, (particularly in light of the beautiful and high impact colour scheme) then i say let it ride.

Mk, so... this isn't actually a full update, cos I hate making the small ones and the ones with 88s and suchlike, so, it's Version 15.5, large only. :)

I think that the troop dots are better this way than before, and also it's better than without them. They're not too obtrusive, but just present enough to help. :)

I also gave another shot at reducing volcano-float... is it any better?

hello, (quiet everywhere but Brazil)

well perhaps the troop circle in Iori Keys could be the same colour as the Fenur one?


Volcano is good but still a little Floaty ... It is a real quandary; based upon the smooth abstract nature of the Island Surface juxtaposed with the necessarily more realistic Geographical features. .. hmm maybe if you place more shadow at the foot of the volcano where is meets the red of Bisham? and darken the slopes of the volcano on the south Face?

mjinga...this might give you some idea....i used a texturised paint brush at 9radius with some texture applied at 25% and used the dark browns to make a link between the reds and the volcano....i think you need to increase the footings of the volcano to texturise some of those terts to make it look more realistic.
see what you can do. :)

I will have a look at the placement of the army circles shortly, some could be better placed i think.

              Final Forge

---The Archipelago Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry Furnace (okay, maybe not) and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.
