Gill...she is D. Julius Caesar's sister, both have parents Proconsul Caesar and Aureliai Cotta.

Julia Major then married Marcus Balbus and had Atia Caesonia, so this makes her part of two different families who have their own respective bonuses III and 1.

D Julius Caesar had three marriages to Caplurnia, Pompeia Sulla, and Cornelia Cinna all with their family bonuses of I each.
He and Cornelia Cinna had a daughter Julia.

D Julius Caesar adopted Emperor Augustus (before he became Emperor), and that's why there is a red line there connecting those two, but you don't get any bonus for that link.

Caesar also had an Egyptian marriage with Cleopatra, but because that wasn't a roman marriage, their union counts as nil bonus and forms that assault link to Marcus Antonius.

Caesar is a very powerful position in this game.

Hope this helps. :)

Thanks cairns, I was just misunderstanding the marriage symbol.

I'm a little lurker, but wanted to put in my 2 cents here; This map looks great!

I think the gods are being undervalued and worth a lot. In FOW they'll show you each dictator/emporer. You can attack all the dictators/emporers through them as well getting rid of most bonuses people could have. I don't think they should get any more neutrals than 3, and this helps keep Ceaser from being too awesome.

Adjusted XML for upload to lackattack.

Changes uploaded are:
1. Gnaeus Pompeus - gets neutral 2
2. Pompeia Sulla - gets neutral 2
3. Dictator Julius Caesar - moved up to 5 neutrals
4. Neutrals on Agrippinella removed.
5. Leaving Gods as they are.

I am currently in a game on this map. Great idea by the way!

Anyway, I happen to be the Orange player. It is very difficult to see my own territories because the Roman Numerals are encased in almost the same color as my own Orange Player Markers.

I don't know if making the Roman Numerals a different shade of orange would help or if they need to be a color completely different than all Player Markers.

great map cairns.
know it`ll take a few games to get the gist of all the little quirks but this is one map i intend on studying intently and becoming a master at.
just one thing i have noticed. in the legend "gods border emperors and dictators" doesnt having the (s) after dictator imply that there are more than one?

Thanks Brian, glad to hear you'll possibly enjoy this one. There are some very easy plays on this one.
The plural on Dictator is, yes, unnecessary and the implication is there, but there is only one Dictator in this family tree.
I'll change it next time there is an upload.

Looking at the neutral placement, do you really want to have some people have some start drops that are behind a neutral? IE, Gaius Marius on the other side of the Julia Caesarias. I would think it'd be better to have the neutrals on the other side of these corners like the way Gnaeus Pompeus is. That would me switching the neutrals from their current position to thier spouse for Julia Caesaris, Octavia Minor (switch with Claudius Marcellus), Julia The Elders (switch with Marcellus), and Drusilla.

Also a thought on the III for Castor Drusus/Livilla family...that seems high to me for an easier accomplisment than all the other III's on the board, and even easier than some of the I's. I notices there isn't a II, maybe move it down to that if you don't want it all the way to a I?

Just suggestions and opinion is all. Hope it helps,

This a very cool map Cairns, another very cool map I should say! I love how the bonuses work, they're really cunning, the layout must have taken you forever! Much appreciated!

Thanks finchboy. :) Yes, the bonuses were created by simply thinking "outside the box", Glad you like them and the layout.

I'm in love with this map, Cairns. I'd marry it, but I'm sure a jealous lover would give me poison figs. Ok that was a bad joke, but definitely Superb! I'm currently starting a tournament on it. I'm not going to spam, but figure'd you might be interested. The link is in my signature.

Brilliant map. Unlike anything else on cc and actually a very good 1 v 1 map due to the variety of paths and bonus combinations. I'm loving it.

One early comment I have - if a player drops on Julia, that +1 bonus is near impregnable in the early game due to the 5 neutrals on Dictator Caesar. Seems like all the other +1 bonuses are more easily accessible (especially the ones around Aggripina). May not be an issue, but I've been playing the map 1 v 1 alot and noticed this has a large impact.

Id say I only won becuase of escalating cards, but I did like the fact that there is lots of borders, I was only playing for terminator kills, but then found out I could attack others from multiple directions, thus giving me the win.

I like what you are trying to do with the "family tree" as attack routes, but thought the bombardments were out of place.
This is a good map, in the same league as something like waterloo, where it isn't that easy to build.

Graphic wise, I found it a little hard being orange, I could't play without BoB.

But its a keeper, you just can't stop churning out great maps. - Thanks!

Cheers

still havent won a game on it yet, but having great fun discovering all the different routes.

one thing ive noticed is that because the background is mostly white, or at best a light grey colour. when you place the curser on a tert as a way of seeing who you can attack.... well when its a neutral its hard to make out if not impossible.

I too have issues seeing somethings with the yellow of the site and the white doesn't help much either. Sorry about that.
