lets see
Small 3 digit
Well you will need to move A little West PApua and Papua New Guinea circles(they touch each other)
Ofcourse MArquese Islands Circle must go a little to.

Large
Now i notice that you have several numbers to fix
Whitsunday Islands
Western Australia
Papua new guinea
(these is what i have feel when i look, maybe im wrong)

Sam for 3 digit-West Papua-Papua new Guinea

Last thing(you dont need to do if you dont want)its to add year 2009 to your names.

You've done a really good job here... Well done! ;-)

Apologies for leaving my nitpicking until you're in the Forge, but here are the things that I would give further consideration to:

1. The order of regions in the legend.
At the moment the order seems a little arbitrary. Consider changing the order to: Micronesia, Kiribati, East Indies, Melanesia, Polynesia, Australia, New Zealand. Personally this oreder seems a bit more intuitive ;-)
2. The 'fish' images.
I really like the fish, shark, squid and kangaroo - although they just seem to 'pop out' of the map a bit too much. The angel fish jumps out the most, and is right in the middle. I think the images may fit the map better if they were a little bit more subtle... reducing the opacity of the images would help them to blend in a bit better.
3. Your signatures
At the moment, I think your names in the bottom corner are too bright - personally I think that subtlety again is key ;-) Have you tried using the same font as the territory names? This is a minor niggle, and of no real consequence.
4. The title.
The title is fine, but a small part of me feels like it's the least thought-through piece of the map, and it hasn't changed much since being a draft ;-) I'd like to see if it could be made to feel like it blends a little bit better... here are some ideas for inspiration: (I quite like the 1st one, without the dolphin)

No problems , i know you're busy! ;)

The legend is in this way only for a aesthetic reason.
If you look the bonuses --> 6,4,2,3,2,4,6
Now are in a mirror position, but it's sometimes i'm thinking the same thing you wrote... :-k

Easy to do ;)

I decided to reduce the brightness and make the names smaller to add the year as qwert suggested, about font...i'll try

Buon lavoro ragazzi.

Just a question...isn't the angelfish a freshwater fish? I don't think they live in the sea...or am I mistaken? If that is the case it would be a bit out of place there.

And a suggestion. You could add a transparent background behind the bonuses to make them more visible if you want. Up to you whether to do this or not.

Ciao. :)

It isn't an angel fish, is a zanclus cornutus.
it lives in the indo-pacific zone and it is a sea fish! (see the second link ;) )
I'm a little "expert" of fish, i have 6 fish tanks at home. :)
It was also used in the "Finding Nemo" movie.
The common english name is Moorish Idol.

Thanks for the info. Six fish tanks? Where do you live...in a palace?

Hmm...cornutus...sounds strange, especially in your native Italian! :p E' un pesce cornuto? ;)

we did some examples on large map to know if community like old title or we have to develope a new one.
We have to develope one of these examples or the old title is a better choice?

If your going to change it, i like title 2.

Title 1 feels a little 'pacific islands' where as title 2 feels like Oceania.. but , i like the original most

Re: Oceania [D,Gp,Gr,X] - 04/1/2009 - Which final title?

Postby thenobodies80 on Wed Apr 01, 2009 3:44 pm

Few days ago Mr.Benn offers to help us to develope the title.
He did a great work, so we decided to post the original 6.7 Version and the new 6.8 Version (with the Benn's title)
We agreed with both the titles so we leave the communty free to decide. :D

A single, simple question:

Which is the final title?

Still going to stick with the original for now.

Maybe try to bring the opacity on the over lay you have down a little, and add a slitgt outter glow if you trying to make it stick out a bit more.

I much prefer the narrower font over the wider one, it fits more with the theme of lots of small islands, rather than a few big one.. if you get my drift.

You could always edit a poll into the original post. I like the creator names being a part of 6.8, but 6.7 looks better for the feel of the map.

thenobodies i must say that these is yours waste of time with these Tittle examples, how many day pass 4? And how many wote you get 3? Instead to decide what is best look tittle, and to put on map,you decide to spend ,how many days on these very minor thing? Honestly,i think that regular people are satisfy with old tittle, and i realy dont understand how you can spend days on some things who realy dont have big attention.

Yes i know. :D
But i think that without a poll people like to spend few words motivating the choice. With a poll few people add some few words about the choice done.Just a click. ;)

I know ](*,) ,but actually we have no other requests and for pikkio and me the map is almost finished. But i decided to develope this map trying to sodisfy the community at large and i rejected only with a valid motivation. So, now i have no motivation about not change (refine) the title at least a foundry decision. ;)
Anyways if, on Sunday 04/05/2009, the actual situation will not change i will set the 6.7 version as the final one and i will ask for a Alpha Monkey overview after a few pixels refinement on small map that i'm going to do. :)
