OK, I've been playing War of the Triple Alliance lately and I've noticed that I have a hard time making out each state on the map. I can kind of see it when I look hard, but otherwise its too difficult and detracts from the map. I'm in a similar situation on these two maps and I thought to resolve it by giving the unified country a bolder outline to show the final product of the wars of unification. I only did Germany because I want to get some feedback first.

Should I extend the bolder outline to each country on the map or should I leave it around Germany and Italy?

Hm. Looks nice but I don't think it should be on the coastline...

Yeah, its a little contrasty on the coast... I haven't made up my mind but thanks for pointing it out.

Do you think it should be applied to the national borders of France, Denmark, A-H and the other non-playables?

Hmm.. yes, I think that would be good, but do remove it from the coastline, it just doesn't look right.

The War of the Triple Alliance map doesn't have as much contrast as these maps; I'd prefer you to stick with the thinner lines really ;-)

While that is true, I would really like for it to be easy to see what the end unified state was. Since these are regional maps, I think that makes it difficult. Someone could suppose that Nice and Savoy were not given over to France and were part of Italy or that Germany did not annex Schleswig-Holstein.

Hm. It doesn't look that good on the italy map....

How about making the border a different colour, like white for example, but keeping it at the same thickness as the other borders? Could be worth a shot.

Yeah, i think it looks a little off on the Italy map as well because there is so much coast line. Meh, I think I'm just gonna leave it as it was/is on page 1. Let's beta test this thing already.

          Beta - Quenching

---The Final Forge period has concluded for the Wars of Unification: Germany Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Beta Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for BETA Play. After an extended period of time in BETA and once all quirks and issues have been resolved, the map will be put into Full Play (barring any Lack vetoes).

Conquer Club, enjoy!

              Image

While the map is in BETA Play, there are a couple of administrative tasks that are required of the mapmaker(s) in addition to the initial gameplay testing:
    1. Please ensure that the first post of the thread contains all the necessary information to help future visitors to the development thread; it's particularly important to ensure the most recent images are there, along with any helpful guides (such as gameplay quirks/nuabces or the location/size of any starting neutrals etc.)
    2. Please update the Map Information Portal with details of your map
    3. Finally, it is the responsibility of the mapmaker(s) to ensure that they respond to further feedback in a timely and constructive manner.

I just sent Lack the corrected files and in case someone else needs them, they're on the first page now.

Postby Industrial Helix on Mon Apr 26, 2010 4:20 pm

Ah... it seems the Italy version that got posted was the one with the thick outline...

What happened was, when I sent the new files to lack I didn't realize the thick outline was still on the italy map. Once I saw it a minute later I deleted the photobucket file and replaced with the file sans thick line. But apparently Lack got to it first...

So when it comes to new files time, let's get the Italy map without numbers and thick line, which should be on the first page. Sorry about the trouble!

And thanks to every one for their support!
