Good to have you back Rask :)

..I can say that I'm pretty satisfied with the last changes, though I agree that France is a bit hard to hold/make. Which ends up to be a bit of a paradox 'cause you hardly see Napoleon rise in most of these games 8-)

..but as we all know it's hard to match gameplay with historical accuracy ;)

Looks fun, can't wait to play it! Might I ask though why Prussia looks like it ate part of the Confederation of the Rhine? I like the Kingdom of Westphalia and the Mecklenburg-Schwerin. :(

Now that I look at it a little closer it looks like you have a nice boarder around it but the orange color there is misleading to my eyes, maybe change it a little if it really isn't apart of Prussia? =p

if you read the legend you will see that the two Confederation of the Rhine territories which have the same color as Prussia will give Prussia a bonus if someone controls all of Prussia and both these territories. Same thing with Warsaw. Other countries have similar bonuses (for ex. Austria with Kracow and Illyria, Ottoman Empire with Bassarabia, Kingdom of Naples with Rome and Piedmont etc).
And you can play the map already since it's been released in Beta for a while now. Enjoy!

I don't have any great concerns here; unless there are any voices of dissent in the next hour or so, I'll push this one out...

I've been playing this map a ton lately and I love it. Both for team play and solo it's so complex and balanced. Great work! The main reason I'm posting though is after all the time spent on that map, I just now noticed the signatures in the swords at the bottom--what a nice touch!

I have some questions about this map. It's great, awesome, and everything, and I love playing on it, and I think I've figured out some of the mechanics in it, but I want to be sure I got this right. And since reading through 60 pages of map discussion already got annoying before I was through the first 10 (and it took ages, seriously...) I decided to just put this out there and politely ask the map founders to answer it.

How does the territory distribution work?
I've found that with 2 players, both players get three land battle sites (or at least from my experience... i only started counting them recently). Now I opened a 6-player game on this map and most people get 2, however there's one poor guy that has 1 and one lucky guy that has 3.
Are there fixed rules for this?

No. It's random distribution. The reason is that no land battle bonuses kick in until you conquer a capital. So the amount of land battles you get to start with gives you no bonuses until you hold a capital. Of course, once you have a capital it matters how many you have, but the opponent has a chance to either take back your capital or take one or more battle sites.

In short: it makes no difference in Round 1 how many land battles each person has. And they are distributed randomly, there is no "fixed rule" for it.

A bug?

Postby Hedronn on Mon Jul 04, 2011 3:57 pm

I noticed a small "bug" on on this map (or so it seems)

The map legend states that player should receive +3 for holding Prussia, +1 with Warsaw, +1 with Saxony and Hessen
While I took control of all of these, I only got the basic +3 for Prussia (I could post the game log extract if necessary)

Anyone else reported that?
Is someone still reading this thread and could look into this for future gaming experience (we could run a test game if necessary I'm even willing to sacrifice precious game points for this)

It's a foggy game so the log/layout is not visible. Do you have a screenshot, or are you able to post the relevant gamelog transcript?

Unfortunately, there is no room on the legend to explain the way some bonuses override others. If you hold the entire Confederacy of the Rhine, then you do not get the +1 for Saxony and Hessen w/ Prussia. Similarly, if you hold all of Poland, then you do not get the +1 for Warsaw w/ Prussia (nor the +1 for Krakow w/ Austrian Empire). Russian Empire overrides Bessarabia w/ Ottoman Empire, and the build-your-own-bonus for L'Empire w/ France overrides Illyria w/ Austrian Empire and Rome and Piedmont w/ Kingdom of Naples and Sicily. Basically, the supplemental bonuses are not given when you hold all of a larger bonus that contains them.

I'm not use to post anywhere on the forum, but I must come here to say that's a perfect job ! This is one of the best map ever, and the best for me because I didn't play all map on CC yet =D> =D>
Both the gameplay and graphics are awesome ! I particulary love the swords

Like someone said earlier, just too bad that France (I'm French :D) is that damn hard to hold ! I'm in a 8 players game right now where I have all the France and dashed regions but Corsica. With no spoils and no fog, I'm too afraid to try to take it and get rape right away

When I'll get a bunch experience of it (only played ~10-20 times with a lot of speed games), I'll consider to make a tournament with this one.

This is an excellent map, not only to play, but artistically as well. There a few others out there that have some outstanding graphics and are great to play.

Hi guys, I noticed a weird things : I got a bonus of -2 on Smolensk & Borodino whereas it should be on St Petersburg & Voronezh. I didn't had troops there but is it a bug (a real one or just called the wrong terr maybe) or am I missing something ?

There may be only two arrows pointing at "Russian Winter" territories but all the ones you mention have the -2 bonus. Note that they all have a whitish border.
