Greetings

Unfortunately, we (REP) want to share some upcoming difficult news for everyone who know and loves Denise. Many of you have competed with and against her for ages while she was in Empire, then The Odd Fellows Union, and most recently in The Republic.

We have been given notice that her time amongst us is growing short, and she is entering her final days. She had previously announced to us a health issue that has been determined to be terminal. Its been an honor to play with her and get to know her myself, but after a short discussion with her she has given permission to announce to the rest of the site.

With this time, I invite anyone who wishes to share their thoughts, fond memories, farewells etc here. Denise may still be able to read some of your messages for a short while, and your words can help give her a few more smiles. I know they will mean a great deal to her, and to the rest of us who are still keeping her and her family in our thoughts and prayers.

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers during this time. I just thought with the community that we've all shared over the many many years, more than our little group may want to know and have a chance to express some thoughts before its too late.

With a heavy heart and reflection

Jason / IcePack on behalf of Denise

Very sad news, you will be missed Denise.

I remember all the good times we had, playing together, against each other, fighting in the same clan, you playing in my tournaments, all of which was always very enjoyable.

Thank you for the joy you brought.

Lx

Sucks. She was always one of the most pleasant people to play against on the site. Didn't have any games on her team but I do know she kicked my ass ALOT. ♥You will be missed Denise♥

This is really sad. I will miss her really. I knew her mostly for her time in IRON, she was always ready to take any game needed and always in good spirit and charming in forums and group. She had a good record with us and helped us in some of our recent titles.

I remember when she told us she would left IRON and whitdraw from my tournament. I did not knew the reason but I'm sure now this was why. We said to play a teamgame together soemtime as we never did and unfortunatelly we might never will. She'll be missed.

Denise was an awesome leader of the Fugawi Tribe and has been a great clan mate in The Republic.

Thanks for everything

Jason, thank you for giving me this opportunity to say good bye to so many dear friends I have made while playing the game. I wish I could write a few of you more personalized messages. Perhaps that's a mistake a made earlier in not doing so, because I don't have the words to do so now.

I am at the end of a fight with pancreatic cancer. I would rather not have but, still, my heart is full of love and gratitude for the many blessings, love, prayers on my behalf, and the much comfort I have received. I have learned a lesson and that is that the world is full of good, wonderful, people. Our world is full of tribulation and sorrow, to be sure, but still there is reason to rejoice as long as we can love, forgive, accept differences, and forgive ourselves for not being perfect.

Thank you for your kind words, everyone. Until we meet again.

Denise,

It's very sad to hear that this is happening to you. Although we only had conversations on the internet and not in personal, it touches me very much.

I wish you a lot of strenght during this period and hopefully you can enjoy the precious moments left with family and friends.

Denise,

I don’t believe I have an eloquent way to say this:

I missed having you as a teammate and steadying voice after you left TOFU and always hoped we could play together on the same side again. I’m so sorry this is happening to you. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. It was an honor knowing you.

Always fun to play against, always a GL and GG from Denise without fail. A great player that I've never beaten in any capacity, because they are just better than me.

Sorry for all that's happening. Hope you enjoy some peaceful days.

A great player and even better person. Although most of our interactions were through IRON you were on of our best personalities and Tribe mates. Wish you and your family strength in your fight and our prayers are with you. This site will be a lot less sunnier without you in.

Thanks for everything Denise.

Denise,
I am very grateful that I got to team with you while we were both part of TOFU. I am so sorry to hear about your health battle. I love your sentiments that you shared in your post above, and this world would be a much better place if we all could learn to love each other and forgive one another. God Bless you and your family during this tough time. Thank you for the wisdom you shared with your teammates over the years, and the wisdom you shared as you finish this earthly journey.

You will be missed...

Denise,

I am so sorry you are going through this. Although I was never lucky enough to play on the same team, you have always been a great opponent to play against.

My thoughts are with you during this time.

Dear Denise,

So sad to hear this. I never had the honor to be on the same team as you, but we played quite a lot of games against each other, and I have always known you to be a skilled and gracious player and a wonderfull person. You will be missed, this place will be a little less bright without you.

Wishing you all the strength, and thank you for everything.

Denise,
You were always a kind soul, a spectacular teammate, and a formidable adversary. May you touch as many people in your next adventure, as you have here.

I've a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes reading the tributes that have been written for this remarkable lady.

A beautiful soul, coupled with a kindness, intelligence and understanding that made her possibly the best team mate I've ever had the pleasure of playing alongside.

CC has its flaws - we all know that - but I'll be forever grateful that it was the mechanism that brought me closer to some wonderful people, Valla (Denise) being right up there. God bless you, my dearest friend O:)

Love it!

Denise was one of the first people I met, on this site as a 15 year old, and part of why I've built so many friendships. I don't have the capacity to say things. So I'll leave it at that.

For Valla!

Goodbye, my friend.

We believe she passed sometime early last week. Communicating with peace, grace, and humor - till the end.

Denise,

Your words expressed get to the heart of who you are, positive in spite of your sad situation. I agree that in this world "full of tribulation and sorrow" there are still many good people in it. You are obvious one of the GOOD PEOPLE and CC and those you know in RL will MISS you terrible.

I also like your statement:
still there is reason to rejoice as long as we can love, forgive, accept differences, and forgive ourselves for not being perfect.

It is full of wonderful and well-expressed sentiments. I am sure, by your words and the words of others, that the world will suffer a MAJOR LOSS due to your demise.

I do not know you and have never played you. Well, I did find one game, Quads, where my team, OF COURSE, lost to yours, in 2023.

Forgive me for posting this here but it's personal and it's for posterity. Oddly enough a barrage of PMs came in from Josko and others involved in his latest tourney and I just happened to catch this at the very bottom of my Inbox so very nearly lost it (my mailbox is stuffed!) and very soon it will definitely be lost. You can't begin to imagine how much this lady meant to me and, I can imagine, everyone else in TOFU for whom she served so gallantly. This correspondence was just seven months ago

They were the last words we shared on CC and I don't want to lose them. Thank you for understanding - it means a lot x

I quit this tourney a while back, but then I came back to CC (very short absence) to play a few clan games for that semi-final. While I was in those games I entered the multi player esc tournament we are both in. After that, I discovered that the source of pain I had been having is pancreatic cancer. It's early, so I'm not sure what state yet but it's causing all sorts of pain and distraction in my life. There is no way for me to continue to play in that tournament. I've let Traf know. It will be all I can do to finish that esc tourny. I may decide to deadbeat but I'll stick it out for now.

I wanted you to know since I consider us good friends. My plan is to apply both holistic and chemo to beat it. The next few months will be tough, though.

I hope your life is going well.

xoxo
Valla

Hello my lovely Valla,

I was touched by your PM more than you can imagine. At the time I felt it didn't warrant a cursory reply as it was too deep and I wouldn't have found words to express my feelings. Not only that but my daughter was admitted to hospital that very day and was kept in for a week having had a terrible asthma attack which became truly precarious (much better now thankfully and on a new medication as she seemed to have built-up a resistance to her salbutamol inhaler).

What can I say? Only that I pray for your recovery and that you've managed to nip this awful affliction in the bud. My brother-in-law is going through similar and I've become much more aware of how good modern treatment is nowadays having witnessed the therapy he's undergone. Please please let it work for you, you're such a beautiful soul. I don't want to imagine the pain you have to endure (I'm a hopeless case when it comes to anything or anyone suffering) :(

On a separate note - equally distressing when I think about it - how is your daughter? I recall, and it must be many years ago now, she had contracted Lyme disease. I'm not sure if that's something that ever goes away?

You've certainly been given a cross to bear and my heart goes out to you and your family. Please have the strength to get through it all.

And if I hadn't started crying already, your closing sentence really got me. I too consider us friends - many miles apart but very close in spirit.

Love you, always

Simon xxx

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter had such a rough time of it but glad that she has recovered and that she is on a better med for her.

Thank you for your words of comfort and encouragement. It means a lot to me. My daughter has been a Godsend with her wisdom of holistic healing. She has been healing herself for years and has made great improvements. She is currently involved in a protocol which is actually a cancer protocol and which has had success in curing cancer that was supposedly incurable. Besides that, I've gone on a mostly vegan diet which she has always encouraged but I didn't think I had the will. Turns out I do, when so much is at stake. And I will, of course, use everything my oncologist suggests which I'll find out more about tomorrow, in my first appointment.

I'm sorry about what happened to TOFU. That was very unfortunate.

Love you,

Valla

Just to offer some peace and closure for all those who knew her and were following along, thinking of her and her family and praying. We have received word from she passed away May 26. Thank you all for the kind messages and thoughts that she was able to read

Give your loved ones a hug.
