clean slate (poll added)

Concise description:
  • ok a clean slate of warnings and forum bans vacations

Specifics/Details:
  • from what i can gather in the rules and regulations just now once you have been given a forum vacation it is escalating in punishment and never decreased.i propose a probation period once you come of the vacation.

    example
1)a player is given a 24 hour minor infraction vacation 1st october 2010 they come off this there are no problems with the said player until 8th october 2011. but due 2 them having a 24 they then get a 72 hour vacation.

what i propose should happen is this.

1)warning after 3 months of good behaviour it is wiped clean
2)24 hour vacation after 6 months good behaviour this is wiped clean.
3)72 hour vacation after 9 months good behaviour this is wiped clean
4)3 month vacation after 12 months good behiour this is wiped clean
5)perma ban after 18 months on this give them a chance 2 come back on a 12 month probation period.

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • i think this will work as a rehabilitation of offenders. there are many reasons why things can happen. and why this should happen.

    1)they lose there temper.
2)they could grow up and be less annoying.
3)they get baited and bite 2 the bait this giving them a ban.

now as with real life crime. there is a rehabilitation of offenders act i think this should count in the punishment of offenders on cc.

Then it's not really a Permaban, is it?

i have eddie on foe.. but I read this...

I think if I was the owner of trhe site I would be loathe to ban permanently paying customers...

but this isnt my business...

for my part, I think this is a good idea... but in reality I could care less... as if I get banned Ill just change the mac address and bang my ip off the nearest elite proxy station.

If you're the owner of a restaurant, and a customer starts punching other customers in the face, you throw him out, because the business you'd gain from keeping him is not worth the business you'd lose from the other customers.

If the customer is disruptive then they could be driving other paying customers away.

lol, you drama queens...

find one person in this "restaurant" that quit becoming a paying customer because of someone punching?

rofl

listen guys, you may all be better at cc than me... but at running a business... well ask yourself who is sitting on his ass trying to figure out which mountain he will climb next at 35 years old..

edit, I think I need to add to this.. as its obvious from the past I dont come across the way I try to many times on a forum here.

probably mayybeeeee 20% of people that actually are registered ever even look at the forum... only 50 % of those even post with any regularity..

we.. you 10% of CC (mods and active posters) have created a small microcosm for yourself here in the forums... well ... I hate to break it to you.. It doesnt mean a lot to the rest of us.

As a business owner I would seriously be very very hesitant to ban a paying customer because of this microcosm.... but thats just me.

You guys take this serious, and while I may chuckle at you to myself, I can understand your viewpoint... as I said, I dont have a dog in this fight.. My dogs won the other fights that count for me.

Decide whether you're talking about forum bans or site bans. If you were only talking about forum bans (what's discussed in the OP), then your previous comment is irrelevant because changing your IP address won't change the ban on your account.

I'm sorry. What disruptions are driving customers away? About the only thing I see that drives anyone away from CC is CC....

FOED!

As for this sugg I support it. Take off those gestapo jack boots CC!

sorry brutha... we gonna disagree here... and I like the mets most of the time.

I just think If I owned a business like this, I would not have a perm ban of any type... This is not WoW ... its actually a dull game. Drama of any sort only can help it. Everyone needs a superman.. AND a lex luthor. That only makes an explorer game better.

and yes I promise you the day I got banned an "Army of LuBu" would show up next day... and It could not be stopped.

Its petty to think you and your rules in your personal created microcosm are so important you can take away a paying customer from paying a man and getting a service from his/her business...

this is just me man. An I really dont even care enough about this to post again. gl in getting this thread crushed. I mean after all it is your microcosm, what is he thinking coming in here with this shit??!

but he has never said anything truer than this -->"bout the only thing I see that drives anyone away from CC is CC...."

I think he is a smart guy if he sees this... most of the kids here don't.

I didn't just point it out to be petty, I was making a real point. Specifically, if we're talking about site-wide bans, then people really can do things that hurt other players. Specifically, multis kill the ranking system and put unnecessary load on the server, and people who engage in secret diplomacy make the game unfair for other players. If that sort of thing is allowed to go on, players will leave. It's a testament to how well the mods work here that people never really have to worry about that!

If that's the case, then the argument needing to see the numbers go both ways - is it actually the case that people who get forum bans leave the site?

dont know brutha... id have to see the numbers as an owner...

but like I said to begin with... I would be loathe to ban a paying customer for your little forum microcosm.

With the single exception as it relates to the permaban, I agree with this. I DON'T agree with there being an opportunity to return from a permaban, as that pretty much defeats the point. I rarely agree with you eddie2, but this is a good suggestion.

People leave because OTHER people get banned.

The comparison to some guy "punching another one in the face" just tells me how far up your ass you reached. It's TEH INTERWEBS. NO ONE CARES. And if you do you sohuldn't.

This site has lost money because of forum bans. I bet you it HASN'T lost money because a ban DIDN'T occur.

nice punch there buddy. You need the AoN etiquette school to further those button pushing skills though.

I don't believe I agree with this...I have left other sites due to behavior of other posters. I have seriously considered leaving this site for similar reasons. In fact, the behavior of other posters is specifically why I am not currently a premium (as I was for a couple of years)...because I'm still teetering a bit with the thought of possibly leaving.

You say that "you shouldn't care"...it's not really that, so much as I don't believe that I should have to put up with behavior I seriously dislike simply to participate on a site that I have paid money for.

And if someone leaves the site because another user receives a forum ban...doesn't that go against your "shouldn't care" rule?

People on the internet who say "it's the internet, it doesn't matter" are usually the ones who care the most.

Just a heads up for when AoG gets butthurt over the fact that you disproved his point ;P

That's not really mean by you "shouldn't care". What I mean by that is people shouldn't be offended by things they see on the internet, because people are out JUST to offend people. They're everywhere, they're unavoidable. But on this site you have the ability to foe and never see another post by a user ever again.

On the other hand, I'm not saying you shouldn't care about the entertainment. There are a lot of funny people on this site and others, and it's annoying when they're forced to leave. The entertainment is gone. That's the difference.

ok metfan look at my vacations

my warning was for

posting a joke thread in the c and a about the cc dice accusing them of point dumping.

next offense (15 weeks later) i thought it was a bait others didnt see it that way but i responded calling the player a dick head i got a 24 hour vacation.

next one was the c and a about abuse of the for system i got a 72 hour vacation.

now what i done was not what you would call totally offensive but was minor infractions.

Don't come to California, then. The three-strike law would destroy you.

Thank you for doing one of my favorite things on the internet. Bragging about your "real life" like anyone actually cares or believes.
