Area bonus troop requiring holding the area for a full turn.

You don't get troops bonus from holding a whole area unless you hold it for a complete turn. If you do this you are guaranteed to get those troops. (even if you lose that area before your turn comes up)

This may confuse some of you so I shall give an example of what I mean.

Example:

  • You take control of green "continent" in round 3(when ever in the round)
  • You must hold it for the whole of round 4. That means in round 4 you would not get the bonus troops of holding the green continent.
  • That also means if someone breaks your hold once, you don't get the bonus. This could be instead, you must hold it at the beginning and end of the round.
  • If you still hold the green continent at the beginning of round 5 before anyone has played, you get bonus troop from it. Even if someone breaks your hold on the green continent latter in round 5.

here's an example of a game where this feature would have helped alot.

Advantage to the game:
This should reduce the effects of turn order on victory in regards to area bonus troop. Especially in freestyle games. I don't see any drawbacks either. No additional game complexity or options to deal with. (unless of course one could choose whether or not to use this, but I think it is good enough for it to not need to be a option)

My apologies to those who voted in the poll when this was combined with another idea of mine in a single thread.

No, I think tactics will make this ineffective overall. It has been suggested before, an additional setting for freestyle games could be that all bonuses are established by each player's position at the start of each round.

Your apology is appreciated, but I took the time to respond in depth to the first thread you created
only to get a THIS TOPIC DOES NOT EXIST when I clicked submit because you deleted it.

btw... the first thread you made that combined both ideas was fine.

So your suggesting there would be a tactic someone could use that noone would ever be able to get bonus troops? If so, what? If not , what do you mean? Many apologies again BTW.
