Memory leaks

Postby Dako on Fri May 21, 2010 5:23 am

Hello there.

I am very concerned about memory leaks in Firefox GS scripts. If I browse CC for ... 1 hours - I have Firefox taking up to 800mb of memory and running very slow. This happens only when I have GS on.

Do you have the same problem? I would like to investigate this further - I narrowed it to this components:
- GS itself
- Firefox itself
- BOB
- Watch This Game
- Ready turns
- Chatglove

If you have the same scripts and have the same issues - please post info about your browser version, GS version and OS version.

Maybe, after I understand what leaks the memory - we can modify the scripts to be safe and work faster.

You missed Firebug (which I guess you have installed too). I was worried about this too a while back since every time I reloaded a game page, there was about 5 mb added to the firefox memory. Once I put firebug off, the problem disappeared. I'm using a beta or alpha of firebug now at home, which doesn't have that behaviour afaik (I'll check this soon to be sure).

Might be firebug, yes. I will try to switch it off or install dev version. Thanks.

Won't be the scripts themselves... could well be GM or FB (or any other add-on) - would be surprised it if was FF.

Updated firebug but I still have that problem.

Each day I am turning 1 script off and see the results. Right now I have BOB only and memory still leaks (not that badly tbh). I will try to play without BOB tomorrow (ouch).

Ok, it was firebug .NET panel. Even in alpha versions.
