Well, I am still playing peekaboo with the Hide Menu function. If I set it to anything but off, it hides as it should, and it appears when I am over the far left margin or the light green of the left menubar, but as soon as I move back to the right to where the darker green menus are, it vanishes. I can occasionally beat it to the punch, but this is not working well for me. Also, when playing that game of hide-and-seek, I have seen instances where a new bogus page tried to load. Most recently, the URL that magically showed up (which I have copied from my address bar) was:
Code: Select all
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/-110

I believe another time it was:
Code: Select all
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/-16

I just noticed that the Spoils estimate in Game 9939671 seems wrong. Is it calculating flat rate spoils, even though this is an escalating game? Could this be related to the new Round Limits information messing up the extraction of the Spoils type from the line below the map?

Forgive the double post, but I bring an orchid, not an onion.

I was just looking at my active games, having just joined as the last player in a game, and was wondering why BOB was telling me that the round would end Tomorrow at 8:01 PM, when it was just after 9:00 PM. A bug? No, BOB is smarter than I, and remembered that the clocks go back tonight. Nicely done.

Except that as I wrote this, I didn't realise it did the same change for me, but since I don't have dst anyway, it screwed me up >_<

Hmm, I think it just uses system time, not sure how that happened.

Idk, I just remember it said something about 8:30 is when the turn will be due, but when I checked the game at 7:40, the turn had already ended?

I saw this idea suggested in the Game Log 2.0 thread: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=138522&p=3473189#p3472991

but I think it sounds like something that BOB could handle.

To save you checking the other thread, essentially the idea is to have Map Inspect features on the lines of the Game Log. The other poster found it difficult to determine just where things were happening in the First Nations maps, due to the native names which were unfamiliar. He/she suggested clicking a line, but hovering would be more consistent with the other features of BOB.

That's a really good idea and one that I think would be incredibly useful. Thanks for suggesting it ender and I hope that it's a possibility to add into the next major release of BOB, whenever that ends up happening :)

Thanks for the support. I was looking at it realistically, and started wondering if perhaps the other fellow was right and the clicking thing might be necessary. Right now, I would have a hard time getting the Game Log and the whole map on the screen at once, so being able to mark a line and then scroll to the map might be a way to go. The other thought I had would be to do something to move the log right next to the map (like the Game Chat can be moved) or to put it in a floating box.

In general, it would be nice to be able to rearrange the portions of the page in many ways. I suppose that will come with the big site upgrade that has been on the horizon since I joined.

You're welcome for the support. Though now that you point out the issue with not being able to get to the game log, I think you're right about it being something that should be clicked on.

The 'big site upgrade', has that been on the horizon since you joined the staff or since you joined the site in 2008? While 2008 seems the more likely of the two to me, I have to ask since I'd imagine you mean since you joined the staff since I don't know that a staff member would say the comment meaning 2008 :)

There were hints a couple updates ago that there was a new web developer upcoming, I hope that's still the case as the site could really use one. I understand that Lack is extremely busy and gets precious little time to code new features for the site, but I think that the site should be big enough to throw $1000-$2000/month into an update or two each month.

I don't know if I should post this here, but Live Chat won't work when I use BOB. I keeps at the 'Chat loading ... Please wait' thing. I use Opera with BOB but I also checked with FF and it won't work there too. Live Chat does work properly when I use Chrome without BOB.

I'm checking the live chat now, but I have no problem with it (either in FF or Chrome, though I can't log in with both browsers). So I'm not sure what the problem is, which operating system do you have, and do you have other addons?

No other Addons. I used Windows 7 OR (dunno sure) Vista Business edition. I tried on another pc with just Windows XP and it didn't work there aswell.

don't think so yet, BOB's clock is a lil out of whack atm too, and I'm sure sherkaner is working hard on getting us an update as soon as he can. :D

Error with time remaining in games

PostPosted: Fri Dec 23, 2011 10:40 pm

Operating System: Windows
Browser: Firefox
Scripts/third party programs used: BOB/CM

If the bug happened in a game/s, do not forget to indicate the game number/s.

on my games home page under active games it shows:

Round Limit
Round Length
Round - Time Remaining

Under this category for all my games I'm getting the example results:

None
24 Hours
Round 2 - 13:32:21
Tomorrow @ NaN:NaN am

None
24 Hours
Round 2 - 22:14:18
Tomorrow @ NaN:NaN am

For time remaining. I think there is an error with the time remaining or something. I hope that makes sense. I'd post a screenshot but I'm to lazy to create a free image hosting account.

Normally it shows what time you have to take your turn.. For example Tomorrow @ 6:43 PM. But instead it is showing the NaN:NaN. I'm sure this means something to you coders

The quick fix for the my games function is to change line 1590 in function updateMyGamesClock(elements) to

Code: Select all
time = currentHTML.split('<br>')[2].split('-')[1].split(':'),

This happened because of the new speed games options. I'm sure they're working on an update already ;)

NaN simply means "Not a Number". which means that whatever it is it's trying to calculate, does not compute, because the data is not recognized as a number, or not a number of any value the computer can work with. it's like telling the computer it's February 30th and expecting a proper date out of it. it will just tell you that it's not a valid date.
