vacation - bound to miss turns

I'm going on a trip for 8 days and I don't think I'll have internet access (maybe, but can't confirm it, and it would only be a few times over the 8 days).
I'm only involved in 3 games right now. I have just been letting my games finish and not start new ones because I would be away.
I was wondering if there is any standard accepted protocol for handling the situation?
Should I post a msg in my active games telling the others ahead of time? That sounds like a strategic misstep but a polite move. Or just let it happen and explain when I am back and the game may or may not be over?

I'll be your account sitter if you like.
Basically you do just what you did do advertise for an account sitter.
PM me if that's what you want.

Thanks for the replies.
I was able to verify that the place I am staying at has some available computers so I should be ok. All my games are on the 24-hour/turn pace and have 5-8 players, so my turns are fairly infrequent.

If someone is account sitting for you, is it polite to announce that in game? I already got people to sit my account when I go away, but just wanted to know.

Yeah, I don't think it's a requirement, but most people will post in the game chat that they are sitting, out of courtesy to others. Usually just a "72o for elf" or something like that will suffice.
