Is it considered OK to sit for a partner in the game you're in?

It should be fine as long as you post in chat that you are sitting for them, and it is not an Opponent in a doubles game.

If it's sequential, yes.

You should only account sit if the other player is really not able to make a turn and not for one's convenience. In other word don't go taking multiple turns in a short period of time.
