i was wondering what settings would most closely approximate reality within risk?

i was thinking:

initial troops: automatic
play order: sequential
spoils: no spoils
reinforcements: adjacent
fog of war: on

freestyle and fog of war on. But who cares about realism, this is not a very realistic game. It's still fun though.

Come try Adjacent Attacks. It's an honour rules system where you can only attack from countries you own at the beginning of your turn, so there's no big sweeping of the board. Means you really have to focus on where you put your troops and move them accordingly.

I feel it makes it a bit more realistic, but really, we're marching numbers across a board by rolling simulated dice.
