Dice and Time Changes

How hard would it be for their to actually be a random dice generator? This mean reversion bullshit algorithm is annoying. Also, what would be so wrong with creating a 30 second per turn ultra-speed game?

We do use a random number generator. What are you talking about?

There are already suggestions for shorter round times in speed games...personally i think 30 seconds is too short but i like the idea of 1 min and 2.5 min speed games. Also the dice #'s are given to us from random.org not a dice generator and they are random.

You go months without losing a 7v1, then you lose 7v1 3 times in one game. I don't think anyone really believes the dice are random.

I believe the dice are random.
I believe many people lack understanding regarding the meaning of the word random/ it's definition when talking about the dice/intensity cubes/ whatever here on CC.

No, I simply find it unseemly to start whining "omg the dice are manipulated!!!111" everytime I lose a game. You see, random dice do not mean that you win every roll you think you "should" win.

AoG is mates with natty so natty probly got him access to the mod dice hack. Would explain why AoG's rank is going up as well as the dice in this game.
Not sure about the other game. I heard lack is replacing the colonels' $25 enhanced dice offer with one that is offered by pm to random samples of site users - could that be it?

I dont believe dice are "manipulated". I dont believe the dice are random though. I have a top degree in math econ from a top 25 university and am familiar with the term. I have also played thousands of games on here in a matter of months. Most people, myself included believe the dice "run" which doesn't predictably happen in true random games. I can say without a doubt I will lose a 9v3 in certain instances, when my dice have turned to total crap. I am asking someone to explain how they are in fact random.

Are you saying that random dice shouldn't have a certain amount of streakiness?

amazing streaks can occur over large samples. I understand that. When your dice go bad though, they go bad for a day or days. the chance you are going to lose 5v1 3 turns in a row, bracketed by you having general horrible dice over the game. it's not, you rolling snake eyes 6 times in a row.

My understanding is, they took a series of about 50,000 rolls, and from that series, there's a set from which your dice are randomly picked. Not "as random" as it would be if you were making your own 50,000 rolls, because your rolls are now limited to what someone else rolled.

For example, someone rolled 5,5,5,5,1 and 6,6,2,6,6
Now your 'roll' is limited by either of those 2 rolls, and it's a flip of the coin as to which of those two rolls you'll get.

It's random, but not random like DICE would be, because with dice you have equal chances of rolling 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 as you have with any other combination.

Which explains both why people say "it's random" and also why it's streaky. In essence, while it's random, it's not "as random" as rolling 5 dice.

HA! and now my point is proven.

basically you are saying it can look as random as the end of an 8 deck black jack shoe. as the roll pool the dice become less and less random...

while i was wrong that it was not a mean reversion algorithm, playing through an entire shoe is reverting to the mean! its boohicky!

I think the more pressing issue is how not random the TIME is. It always counts down linearly, STOP ADVERTISING IT AS RANDOM.

I really hate to say it, but my dice have not been the same since. Whether thats a good or bad thing you decide. I have noticed that it requires significantly more troops to sweep in an escalating game now.

exactly, at times you get crazy good dice, but normally its all crap..

EXAMPLE

within 3 minutes I have just now experienced
9v2=1v2
17v2= killed it successfully with 3 going through
11v2= 2v2

the dice arent fucking random.

I would state that you CANNOT predict runs in Conquer Club and if you CAN, then why the hell are you losing games? Doesn't take a math degree to tell me that if I know I'm going to lose, I don't play. Amirite?

No, that is inaccurate. The "deck" is reshuffled for each set of rolls.

1, I think you are a multi with Wooddruff

2, if they are 50000 reshuffling everytime anyone attacks then maybe, but i want a definitive answer on how it works from someone who knows. as far as me knowing it, i play so i can get through this mean reversion shit. you are a 1-bar? i am not sure you would recognize any sort of advantage or disadvantage.

3, my current game 7696528 i drop 13 more men through round 2 then my opponent but was down 1 man, on top of this my dice are shit in all my games. random dice dont go in fucking runs. yes i can fucking predict it.

That is how it has been explained to us. They get 50,000 numbers in a straight list from random.org, which gets those numbers from a process that converts atmospheric noise into the numbers. A number between 1 and 50,000 is selected for a set of rolls, and that number is the starting point for that set. When the next set starts, a new number between 1 and 50,000 (on that same list) is generated and the process begins again.

GloverParkDude wrote:you are a 1-bar? i am not sure you would recognize any sort of advantage or disadvantage.

I largely play 8-man games on random maps, which accounts for most of my rank, though I'm certainly not a strategy genius. I would be more than happy to play you any number of 1-vs-1 games you would like so that I may demonstrate for you whether I really would recognize (or not) any particular advantage/disadvantage. I would recommend ten, as it gives a good balance of opportunity. I pick the map. Care to try? Or would you prefer to just talk crap?

If you could predict it, why the hell did you attack? If you attack when you know you will lose, you are dumb. It really is as simple as that.
