cof's forum ban.

well well this is another sad day for cc. chariot of fire has been forum banned because of his disgust at the tactics of a certain player (that a vast amount of the comunity agree with him... a player who i may add is on a 2nd user name.... can we talk about how all of this has came around.

what i see is the following...

events of 2-3 years ago

i became a member of this site and this kind of abuse was in the lime light of the c and a forum. there was several cases i remember the main person being someone called David hoestra(hope i spelled that correct.) all the response the public was getting was make a sug about this, as at present there is nothing in the rules against what is happening.

events of 1-2 years ago.
things came to a major boiling point in c and a surronding this type of abuse i think from what i recall 75 percent of forum goers were in agreement that it was abuse. and we were promised a revise of the rules.
even during this time the cheating and abuse members got involved opening a sug to try get this issue resolved.

present day
cof has recieved a forum ban for baiting flaming a certain member in threads because him like many others believe he is cheating and abusing new members to the site. the cc community has been promised a resolve to this for a couple of years now with nothing happening. I feel cof has been unfairly treated because admin (and others involved) have not acted on outcrys from the paying community to sort this issue out. i also feel cofs forum ban should be overturned and admin finally put a fix to the abuse the top player on this site is doing.(or a rule to prevent it from happening.)

yours

Who cares?

Does it personally affect you? If not, then why worry about it?

People are always going to game the system, no matter what that system may be. If that's how those people have fun, screw it, let 'em.

Oh no! The integrity of the scoreboard of this online gaming community might be compromised. How ever will we cope with this?

Don't you have a life?

Why would you reply then? If you don't care then don't waste our time by spamming such a predictable response. You have taken no side of the issue yet you denigrate the proposition. Whenever I see the old "Don't you have a life?" response I laugh because those that use it are really asking themselves that question. Your life then consists of taking the effort to join a conversation that you disdain in order to gain the respect of people you also have disdain for. That must make you very confused.

Yes, you're right. I posted that in order to gain your respect.

It had nothing to do with the fact that I'm tired of seeing thread after thread complaining about somebody's tactics.

For the record, I never said I had a life. I pretty much don't. But still, I don't give a shit about this stuff. I don't see why anybody else does, either. Also, the life thing was more directed at Eddy, since he seems to be behind so much of the ridiculous drama on this site.

Do you respect me now? Please tell me you do.

I can certainly agree that the farming rules should be changed (whether it's for integrity of the scoreboard purposes or whatever other excuse).

However, as I understand the rules, if a user flames, baits, trolls, etc., that user is punished regardless of the reason for the flames, baits, trolls, etc.

So, I'm not sure you plea, as it is currently constituted, is a valid one. If you reconstituted it into "Chariot of Fire wasn't actually trolling, baiting, flaming," then perhaps we have a good plea.

That's an excellent question. Let's just say, regardless of my views on farming or alleged farming* I don't think what Chariot of Fire typed could be classified as bannable trolling, flaming, and baiting. If I were a global moderator and/or discussions moderator, I most likely would not have issued that ban. I tend to think his points were cogent and purposefully typed to avoid any type of bannable offense. Furthermore, my own point of view on the forum rules are that unless it's an egregious violation, we certainly should not be banning folks left and right. Banning folks for things like this lends itself to increased reports and hypocritical or inconsistent bannings.

But I digress... the point here is to appeal about whether or not his writings were flames, trolls, or baits and not whether the content of his speech was justifiable.

* As a member of the non-officer club (of which there are many of us... we will rise up as one someday... just wait), I know my opinion is ignored by most, so I say "my views on farming or alleged farming" tongue-in-cheek.

I didn't see CoF's posts on the subject, but I'm happy to see that Master Bush received a forum ban for this as well.

Just because you disagree with a player's tactics it does not give you right to flame/bait/troll them... and there was much more of this happening than actual discussion on the tactics.

I'm obviously biased towards cof, but if you were in his shoes, not mine or yours, you might be more pissed off seeing that the only way to be number one is to achieve it by using debatable tactics.

I couldn't care less about the tossers who farm, but thats because I'm not in the top ten.
When you are in the top ten or twenty, points become more precious and points gained through farming will really annoy you.

this loophole could be closed, but the site owners don't see it as a problem, so there's only a tiny chance of reform.

Giving him a ban is just another example of how back to front this site is. Allow rule bending to go unpunished, but punish a person for breaking forum guidelines.

It's all a load of bollocks. And that's why I have a blue crown.

I would concur about master bush. I had found him to be annoying in his posts before I was even able to catch up on what his complaint was. COF on the other hand was not endlessly spamming and stalking GLG. He made as thegreekdog said a cogent argument and was on point. master bush went on and on for days making no new arguments whereas I think COF brought a fresh perspective which was very well stated. It was unfortunate that the thread was locked so soon after.

Bullshit.

If we never argued anything we saw as wrong, the two C&A mods would still be entering games with multies and kicking them after 6 minutes.
The Blitz case would of been quietly swept under the carpet, and doubt countless other cases would of been hushed up and forgotten about.

the mods would far rather do f*ck all and have an easy life. if the easiest path to gag the complainer, then lock any annoying or awkward threads. That's them doing the bare minimum.

Welcome to the sort of situation that exists in North Korea and other such shitholes.

Couldnt agree more. COF was to the point and in my opinion the forum ban is a total crock. The mods in their wisdom have got this totally wrong. They have bowed to peer (GLG) pressure. The thread in question was in the main on topic and was trying to address what is becoming a serious issue on here.

Maybe the moderators should have locked the thread earlier if they thought it was either going off topic or there was flaming/baiting involved.

All people ask for is fairness and in this particular case the punishment was not warranted. At most maybe the mods should have spoken to both COF and GLG and the matter as there was plenty coming the other way too.

What I was referring to was solely about Master Bush as he was clearly not "arguing what he saw as wrong". It was flat out flaming/baiting/trolling GLG personally, not discussing his playstyle in a calm and rationale matter. Again, I never saw CoF's posts to see how they compare to MB's (do you have a link to them so I can read?).

There's ways to go about making a point without flaming. It's quite possible that CoF accomplished exactly that judging by some of the reaction in this thread.

like me i did not even look at the thread in ?. my problem is that the thread should not of happened. this is all down to admin/c and a mods. promising a resolve and 2 years down the line the same arguement is happening. how many more people are going to be banned until who ever controls it get of there arse and fix this obvious abuse of new site members
