6p Classic Escalating, RARE SETTINGS

At least SOME percentage of you found this place because you wanted to play an old Classic RISK game...

You know what I'm talking about... Remember those epic games with 5 other friends, eating and drinking and talking the night away... Well, no way to recreate that exactly, but a 6p std escalator that lasts for a few weeks would come pretty dang close.

So since I haven't played a game in awhile, I went to Join A Game

3013 games waiting... :o
well there is no way to navigate THAT, so I went to Game Finder

Entered the Original Classic RISK settings...
Found just 2 games waiting

Expanded to include ALL forting options
Increased to a whooping FOUR games waiting

Well i did join a couple, but it seems odd to me that this is such a rare setting.
Is it that the FILL so quickly? Or it is so diluted by the Gianormous choices here?
But what of somebody who finds this place like i did?
If you are looking for the old school RISK game, it's hard to find here...

and that just seems odd to me...

EDIT
- Just did a search of these settings for all time...
32,065 games vs some 12 million total...
Yup, this really IS a RARE setting...

Why not increase the number of players to 7 or 8?
Game Finder showed me 318 awaiting games.

You want rare settings, try 7 players. Only 75532 games in total on all maps and settings. That is on average 331 games per map.

That includes all games that are waiting for players, finished and ongoing.

Robinette, you're always free to join SoC games. =) These games are open to anyone on Conquer Club, and we use them to train our students. The students have help, though, and they post the games and get advice on their moves. I find that they're generally pretty tough.

We use Classic, 6-player, Terminator or Standard, Escalating, Automatic, Unlimited.

They're listed under Tournaments, but they're open to all.

Links to find SoC games: SoC Basic Terminator Games and SoC Basic Standard Games

Back in the day, wacicha would create 40 or so public games with those settings at a time, but now that we use the tournament label, we've kind of ghettoized ourselves.

I suspect that many of those games that would be made are taken by us, and there are also many high-rank private games of that sort. I'll make some up soon.

Hi Seul, hi koontz...

i have played a reasonable amount of 7 and 8 player games, but the point here is that I wanted to play old school RISK, which of course only allowed for 6 players.

But if we overlook that little detail, using Classic old school settings there are still only three 7 player games, and ten 8 player games awaiting players at this moment... and i even left forting and round limits open.

Makes me wonder if people even know what the old school RISK games were all about. Of course, to be fair, in the 70's and 80's they did tamper with the rules a few times, and i believe it was always a bit wanky in the UK version.. But still...

haha... well lucky for you they are such rare settings!

EDIT... wait a minute... how would you even know without tasting it?

YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED A SINGLE GAME LIKE THIS! NO, NOT EVEN ONE! hahaha...

2,346 games played, but not ONE time have you tried the old school settings.

This site would not even exist if it were not for the old school Classic RISK, you owe it to yourself to see what it is that started a gaming revolution so many decades ago.

well sure enough... 26 std games awaiting, all old school RISK settings... well, a slight bend using unlimited forts, but it is refreshing to see so many!

I would love to play some of those games...

So using the old school RISK settings (but open on forts and round limits) i did some new searches...
Just to see... well, not as many high-rank private games as i expected...
All PRIVATE games ever played = 4,339 (and i am in 284 of those)

So i checked out the Tournament scene..
All TOURNAMENT games ever played = 1,639 (i am in just 4 of those)

And all the PUBLIC games ever played = 32,064 (am in 31 of those)

Still surprises me...

remember also that there is not actually 12 million games. Many have been created for tournaments that happen to be the wrong setting or invited the wrong people. Or games that are created and later dropped by everyone so they no longer show up.

But you do have a point...this is a risk website so shouldn't classic risk be what people come here for? I got bored of it a while ago and only enjoy 8 person escalating as opposed to 6 person.

thanks...

can we discuss strategy in the game too?
lining up the pretty colors has worked fairly well for me in the past, but i know there is more to it than that ;)
