I had this idea that I thought might be fun to do every once in awhile. I think people learning strategy only makes the site better and I am hoping there are other who agree that want to help out and share a bit. I've started a game that is open to anyone who is willing to share their thought process behind each move in this thread. So if you join the game you should make a move then come here and just give a brief description of what you did or were trying to do, and why.
The game is British Isles, Unlimited fort, Sequential Turns, Flat Cards, 4 player.
Game #: 590903
PW: strategy
Also this thread should be open to those who did not get to join the game but want to give some constructive criticism or suggestions.

If you could get those guys help out with this that would be excellent, I am by no means an expert at this point but that game has a good deal of very good players that could provide some insight.

haha, sounds like a good tactic to me. Don't let this deter you from joining.

Sounds like a good idea. My strategies always end up on the wrong end of the dice though

Just so everyone is clear on what game I am refering to, here is a link below:
http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=590903
Round 1
Initial thoughts: Most of my troops were placed in South England, and I don't think I have a strong enough presence in any of the other areas to really make a stand yet. So even though I would prefer to be somewhere else, I think I have the best chance of gaining a foothold in the large South England area.
Attack: I attacked green at Lincolnshire for a couple reasons. First, in the South England area green is my biggest threat, because he simply had more troops in this area than anyone else. Second, I think that green might want to try for North England because he has a strong presence there, attacking Lincolnshire takes out two armies that Green could have easily brought up in his fortification. Third it allows me to move my troops out of East Anglia.
Fortification: 2 from Lancashire to Oxfordshire. I think green will probably want to get me out of North England anyway, now I can use those troops for attack in South England.

Khaz I would be quite happy to oblige if it were a Classic game but given its my first attempt at that map my strategy is simply survival

HI all,
ChessPlaya - you are very perceptive, Prmurty and myself (jez_smith) do 'play together' a lot!! We also work together. I let him know about this game because we are both newbies and would relish the chance to gain experience and share knowledge with others players.
Strategy:
It looks like I've lucked out in Ireland so I'll try and get an easy card from yellow and fortify the edges. Also I'll fortify Devon with Cornwall.
At the moment I'm not thinking about other players...

I see your point. But that shouldn't prevent you from sharing your thoughts on your steps and ideas on just how you plan on surviving. After all, that's what CC is all about, sharing and giving...

Considering the fact that you were the one setting up the game, handing out some invites... well, that's a complete strategy guide right there. Pick your settings and find some morons who are willing to walk into the trap...

Round 2
Green is still my threat, since blue is focused in Ireland, and yellow Wales. So I attacked in Cheshire to cut off his tracks to Lands End, in hopes that he will find that North is a better choice. For fortification I kept my guys pretty even, but moved one from Lincolnshire to London to set up attacks for future rounds.

Hmm... if I were you, I would put everything together - go through Hampshire into Cornwall, grabbing it. You don't do much good in Scotland, yellow is your only hope with respect to keeping blue at bay (and blue is your best chance keeping yellow from Wales). Get Cornwall - they won't have time to bother with you for a round or two until either blue or yellow comes out on top - and then try to slowly put up some armies in Scotland and in SE-England when deploying.
But that's just my two cents. Not a perfect situation.
red's the threat!

Round 2
I fortify Meath and attack Donegal so I have the whole of Ireland. It looks like Red is going to get south england and as this is worth 7 armies (the most on this board) he'll be the biggest potential threat.
I still have a small hold on Lands end, I might try for that next, but Ireland is my priority.
I nearly attacked into wales this turn as well, but I don't want to stretch myself too thin

You will most likely be able to keep Ireland. Use the armies to break yellow in Wales. He won't be able to hold it against you. Move in and take Wales. No way Red can hold SE England without an alliance.
