I'd like to start by saying that generally my time spent here on CC has been enjoyable. Most of my interactions have been positive or entertaining. In fact, most of my interactions have been for the purpose of entertainment. I do flip the board at times but I can't imagine why anyone would really care. People do the same to me all the time. Anyways, thanks to most of you I've encountered along the way. That includes pretty much everyone I spar with here with very few exceptions. I know I can be a dick, but i own that.

I started playing here sometime after I was first diagnosed with cancer and stuck in a bed. Over the years, I came to really appreciate the community - even the ones who I clash with because how fun is life without some good conflict?? Boring AF, I say. I don't take things that are said personally and I try to avoid being exceptionally cruel while keeping the trash talk revolving around the game or the topic.

I don't cheat. I don't skip turns in nuke games so I don't have to nuke terts. I don't intentionally miss the first turn in Baltics games to build a stack. I don't manipulate scoreboards, tournaments or any other competitions. I don't create multis or log into other players accounts unauthorized. I welcome every newcomer I encounter with offers of help and encouragement to stick around.

I have spent hours trying to build a statistical database for clans and tribes. I even was asked to be a mod once - I accepted and said I didn't need or want credits in exchange, I just wanted to do my part to move CC forward. I was dumped from that but whatever, no skin off my back. In fact I believe with competent leadership and a bit of work, this is a very viable business. It wouldn't make you rich but it shouldn't be hemorrhaging users for a decade. Which brings me to my point.

I've been banned not once, not twice, but three times for deadbeating 1 v 1 speed games (I'll get to this in a minute). To my knowledge, I am the only person who has ever been punished for this despite the repeated statements that "rules are rules" (clearly, not). I even made multiple c&a reports highlighting other players who were deadbeating, and those threads were deleted and I was banned. So. Rules I guess are not actually rules?

Unfortunately, this business has made it clear that it has zero interest in having someone like me around. Which is baffling, somewhat hurtful and beyond stupid. The cost of acquiring an active user is significant. The cost of acquiring someone who tries to bring players in and actively contributes to the community - an "advocate" - is even larger. It's incomprehensible to me that you can shed active users for a decade and leave the same dumbass in charge who seemingly has zero interest in even maintaining status quo, not to mention attempting growth. It's either by plan or by sheer and utter uselessness. I sincerely hope KA is not paid for this blatant incompetence.

Back to the bans. I've read "rules are rules". I've read "repeat offender". Laughable only because the entire speed game community is a "repeat offender" then. The funny thing is, these cowards who report me for a standard practice are too scared to do it publicly. They won't fill out a C&A because they know it's nonsense. So they go to a private message to their boy, who carries out the duty blindly. I missed some turns in 24 hour games while I was in Vegas for my 40th birthday. I had time to play a couple of games here and there - why would I play the games that are over? I asked for cover but it was spotty. Why would anyone care? I can drag out a game for weeks or we can end it in 3 days and I can continue drinking and losing money.

Here's a bit: I looked at one day (my birthday, for fun), quickly and here is what we have.

These are the players with game numbers who deadbeated games on May 4th (I am certain there were more, but this was just a quick look). I can say with absolute certainty that everyone on that list is a repeat offender. If rules are rules, every single one of these players should be hit with a ban. Along with the dozens or hundreds more who I could likely find with a few hours of research. Why would I ever think, ever, that I would be singularly punished for something that happens EVERY SINGLE DAY, REPEATEDLY?? On the day I was banned, I won two games that were both deadbeated vs me. The whole thing is complete and absolute nonsense.

Here's more. Mr Pixar likes to report me, and the site likes to listen. after like a ten minute cruise through some games, here are some other games with players who have deadbeated vs pixar, with strangely no reports. if its so bothersome, you'd think he would be trying to nail everyone?

21304877
21276398
21076966
12409620
13958196
14678192
21528334
21502837
20274000
19979700

Here's a game where pixar himself deadbeated: 12452516 - i dont care when this was, it took me minutes to find and you cant be running to daddy when you've done it yourself, i imagine more than once.

let's keep going. this took me 5 minutes to find these. there are no doubt many more from these players.

here is a couple from a well known player and teammate of pixars DBing a game: 20426370, 22426469 (this was vs me!) - Should we ban Ukey?
here is a player DBing vs a mod, why were they not warned?: 22326185
here is a game from xroads - "rules are rules", right?: 19395619. oh and there are many, many more from this one. comedy at it's best.

It's sad really, because while I cannot stand someone like *pixar*, i would never wish for him to leave the site or be unjustly punished. in fact, i'd be right there saying this is BS - not defending my cowardly, spiteful, childish, petty act with stupid examples and nonsense. i spar with sonic but i firmly believe that he and players like him are good for the site. i can shit talk josko all the way to hell but i would never ever want him to walk away. i certainly wouldnt actively do things behind the scenes to attempt to get anyone to leave. unfortunately, that's the tactic that a select few players have chosen and it's sad. it's sad that you seemingly want to kill this site that you appear to enjoy so much. because the fewer of me and you that are around, the faster this hits the toilet.

Bottom line. I don't want special treatment. I just want common sense and equal treatment to be a thing. And I want to spend my time and efforts in places where it's at least slightly appreciated, not actively attacked. I would not shop somewhere or eat somewhere that repeatedly made it abundantly clear that I was unwelcome. So why would I stick around here?

Get your winning ratio against Josko higher?

I would play with ya :D

Won’t you miss Rocket from Guardians of the galaxy and Doug Funny?

I agree with the point of the forum.

Every single player in CC should be treated equally regarding rules. Some mods are really good and have helped make the site better.
But some mods make desitions based on their own opinion. in this case KA, has applied a punishment guided by his feelings, listening to the cowards who make private reports instead of opening a public case. It has been posted in this post and many others before that more players intentionally deadbeat games, but just a small number of people get the treatment Scott did.

As pointed in another forum deadbiting 1v1 games happens everytime, a lot of players do so and noone is "punished"-I also believe deadbeating casual 1v1 games as long as not point dumping should not be an issue, but thats another disscussion.

Many fail to realize how much Scott has offered to the site and that he has done more than almost everyone in here to make this a better place, if for a bs like this he decides to leave, and I would probably do so if I were in his position.

I personally would like to thank publicly Scott again for everything he has done for the site, and for a very enjoyable time playing with me in CC.

Speed game DB is and should always be acceptable, and not against the rules.

Total conjecture here, but the DB of the standard poly games is probably what did it in for you.

That and you are total dick like me, so they like to put the hammer to us when we pop our heads up.

I hate to see you go, its so fun and easy taking points from you occasionally

NSS was never loved so this quote should not apply to him.

If i could give 1 advice it would be "Don't walk away but be less Mr. DICK
and more "Mr. AWESOME PLAYER".

And filing so many C&A reports is Mr. Dick talking.

So you need to stay Mr. Nut Saft, otherwise i loose my sparring partner, now where is the fun in that?

PS: last part of this post was a joke except the staying part

Very well said Scott and Trafalgar. I would also like to thank Scott for everything he's brought to the site over the years. Even after being kicked as a mod, he continued to spend his time and energy to help introduce new people to the site and to clans. He worked countless hours on the clan and tribe statistics, and not for recognition or credit, he did it because he wanted to ADD to this community. Something very few people actually want to do anymore. The ones who try eventually get fed up and walk away because there's only so much one can continue to give; especially when simple requests like reevaluating a rule that everybody breaks are met with hostility and stubbornness.

I understand completely how you feel, Scott. And I am so sorry, truly. :(

Part of the message I sent to KA last week after getting in trouble for another forum message I posted...I will likely for this as well.
groovysmurf wrote:It doesn't matter who the person is, I would stick up for anyone at anytime. I see something happening that is unjust on a site that I happen to love and nothing being done about it...what would you have me do, honestly? Just sit back and watch it like everyone else and eventually walk away because I just can't take it anymore! That's precisely the reason the site is dying in the first place!

I understand the rules that are in place. Those rules can be adjusted and changed (and should be) as the world changes. It's a law here in Cleveland that women are prohibited from wearing patent leather shoes in public, but I'd be willing to bet this is not enforced or known by most. So, if one day I go shopping and I get arrested because of my patent leather shoes even though I know of 20 other women who wear them frequently and have never been approached, that is unjust.

I am willing to bet that at least 90% of CC members have deadbeated in a speed game and either don't know it's a rule, or simply choose not to follow it. I am NOT saying these people are right. Please, understand that. I am simply saying that maybe the rule needs to be reviewed and perhaps amended. That's it. Is that really so wrong of me? Shouldn't a team leader be someone who tries to help make changes to the community they're helping to lead, changes the community actually WANT and have been asking for for years? That's what I'm doing here and no, it doesn't make me a hypocrite. It makes me a leader.

And I want to spend my time and efforts in places where it's at least slightly appreciated, not actively attacked. I would not shop somewhere or eat somewhere that repeatedly made it abundantly clear that I was unwelcome. So why would I stick around here?

Word.

Total conjecture here, but the DB of the standard poly games is probably what did it in for you.

That and you are total dick like me, so they like to put the hammer to us when we pop our heads up.

I hate to see you go, its so fun and easy taking points from you occasionally

Also one of the times I 80% agree with xroads. I dont think either of you are total dicks, both of you have it in you to not be dicks and NSS is oftentimes just not a dick.

But I do truly understand leaving over this. At some point, it's just enough. I saw your "I cant wait until I have some time" post be deleted and I was afraid you were forum banned. Luckily it got here, still.

that post was moved to the street corner, a sub forum of the off topic section which you can't actually see without entering the cesspool first

scott raises several good points. none of them will be properly addressed. nothing will change. more people are leaving. still nothing will change.

not hard to turn this site into a steady business. a grind yes but it's not complicated.

oh well. not my problem.

You seem to be very proud of your part in helping remove people from the site. NSS has done more to help the site than you ever will. You should honestly be ashamed of your actions, but you're way too full of yourself to feel such things...

As much as KA is the bad guy for much of this situation, you are the one who led the charge to turn KA onto Scott.

Nah, it's good man. He is both ashamed and embarrassed - this is one of the most important things in his life and nobody agrees with him or likes him. He tries to cover it with sad attempts at humor but he's as insecure and insignificant a person as you'll find.

On another note, hope all is well with you.
