I noticed that too. I won a game that put me over 1400 and made me a captain, then was eliminated in a terminator game that knocked me below 1400. But, that game was still active. I'm guessing that was why it was still showing captain.

Alas it is over for now. I lost out on another game that made it kick me back down to 3 stripes.
