Dos a PM stay in your outbox until it is read by the receipient and then to sent, or does it go to sent when it is sent?

I have several in my outbox and i dont know if its having trouble sending.

It is in your outbox until read by the recipeint. after they open it, it is sent to your sentbox.

it stays in your outbox, but the recipient has a copy and the minute they read it your copy in the outbox gets moved to your sent box
