Dissociative Identity Disorder and Multi's

The forum has been boring lately... plus I have no turns... so I would like to pose the following question to the group...

Would/should a medical diagnosis for DID/MPD qualify someone for an exemption from the No-Multi rule?

DID = Dissociative Identity Disorder
MPD = Multiple Personality Disorder

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociati ... y_disorder

I can see some very good reasons why a person with this disorder would benefit from the exemption... I can also make some arguements how this would benefit the CC community.

Conversely I can see how multiple personalities (i.e. someone with DID) could cause problems if "they" were forced to share a common CC identity.

... any wisdom from the CC Community???

any thread of note or interest, of late, has been moved, merged or locked (excluding dumb dice threads). so, people with interesting topics or questions are discouraged from posting for fear of quasi-warnings and harassment by out of control mods drunk with assumed power. your theory is interesting... i have to do some detailed research before i can post something of substance. however, i applaud your effort with this thread! i look forward to following it... even if that means all the way to the Intelligent Konversation after a death blow by a mod!!-0

hwhrhett... not following...

Are you saying this player displayed symptoms of DID in his game play?

Are you agreeing with my premise/suggestion?

When he loses, he claims it is someone else playing... so yes. And I agree, he should get a different account for each of his identities.

LOL

This guy would still have the same problem though.

He'd claim his other identity took over when he lost.

LOL

No interest in this topic?

See... I've been told I act like I'm schizophrenic.

I figure maybe if CC is willing to make this exception it might
be worthwhile to go to a shrink to get a medical diagnosis.

what would be the chances that two or more of the personalities have an interest in Risk, let alone find this site.

in my vast experience (from watching Law & Order) those separate personalities often don't know the others exist. in that situation the various personalities would not recognise each other and would most likely hinder, not aid one another.

Doesn't everyone have an interest in Risk?

Finding the site for the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th personality would be easy. It would be cached on their shared computer once the 1st guy/gal found it.

I'm glad to see we have this source in common. At least now there are two experts on the subject posting in this forum. ;)

By the way, its doubtful if either of those two "disorders" really exist-conceptually, they just smell of brown salty balls.

All you have to remember is that most psychiatry is largely guesswork, and untestable and thus largely meaningless.

Dr. Suggs BA MA Phd TWAT.

Now there's a thought. Personality 1 goes to his PC, sees someone else has been playing on it, this adds to his paranoia. He then arrives here by searching the history...

He finds his worst nightmare...multi personalities abound. He is now looking for a needle in a haystack and falls asleep with exhaustion searching. Personality 3 wakes up (personality 2 being the villain of this piece) and sees a page of names in front of him. He immediately thinks he is having a day mare (something he often suffers from) and lets out a scream...

Gibbering incoherently he signs up and searches for spare games. As luck would have it, he signs to P2 games. Then sits waiting...

He gives up and retires, only for P1 to wake up. Remembering this site he returns to the search, meanwhile he decides to be sneaky and get on the inside and find his nemesis. He also signs up on the same games, wondering why the names look vaguely familiar.

Enter - stage right. Mr Innocent, unknowingly signs up as the last person in these 4 player games....oh dear oh dear oh dear...whatever will happen now...

P1 kicks off, within a couple of rounds he pms P3 with a deal to force the others out. P3 refuses and posts in the game log that PI is a complete nutter and w****r, and not to be trusted under any circumstances. PI thinks he has found his nemesis, why else would he refuse a reasonable request. P2, meanwhile, keeps wondering why his keyboard looks so battered and wonders who else is in the house while he is asleep.

Mr I wonders how he has managed to find himself in this nether world where the other 3 players have some uncommon similarities yet seem hell bent on abusing each other. He goes and reads Alice in Wonderland for light relief.

P2 attacks P3 because he hates his being a snitch, meanwhile P1 buddys up to Mr I thinking he has found a ‘real’ friend (as against the multitude of friends constantly shouting at him in his brain). P2 then accuses Mr I of forming a secret alliance with P1; P3 sees his chance and tryies to wipe out P1. Mr I feels sick.

P1 suddenly goes AWOL. Then P2 and P3 also go AWOL (the authorities have decided it is time for a rest for said owner of these personalities). Mr I gains the games by default...

Only for all 3 to return a week later abusing Mr I of being a cheat as they blame him for not taking their turns. Mr I cannot understand what has happened to his life, his email box is full of venomous emails, threatening him; his wife is astounded he knows such people and threatens to leave him. He asks the senders to desist, but it is like trying to stop the advance of the Gobi desert. All 3 stalk his account here…so he opens another…WHAM he is hit with a multi ban.

Interesting possibilities Fruitcake... you should write a murder mystery novel based on that premise. Your about halfway there already. ;)

I am more concerned about the innocent players in a game with someone with this condition.

You could make a treaty with one personality. Then two turns later another personality it using that same account. Since P2 is more aggressive than P1, and doesn't believe in treaties, he attacks you from behind.

Is it really his/her fault if he has a medical condition that causes that behavior?

I think it it in the interest of the CC Community to make this exception ASAP.

QED the story jb.

Although bizarre, it shows what can happen if such a condition is not acceptd as a normal medical condition.

The Authorities in the story were aware, and acted as and when required, by giving them a 'rest'. The syndrome sufferer was not aware of his causing havoc, and poor old Mr I ended up with a ban, just because he was trying to escape from the bombardment he received, only to be punished.

If the cc authorities had been aware of the various personalities being one sufferer, they could have advised accordingly and Mr I would not have ended up suffering Divorce, his Children taken away as his Wife feared for their mental state after seeing the emails, which, in turn led to him attempting to end his miserable existence.
