What do YOU want out of a feedback system?

So people are complaining about feedback. We know it's not perfect, so no long diatribes about how and why it sucks. Rather tell us what you want out of it. More specifically, what are the most important things you want out of a feedback system?

Be concise. Get to the point. Bullet points, short sentences. When I start to read long speeches that take up the whole page, my eyes gloss over and I skim. Oh and save the "tank it all" posts. Thanks.

What's been suggested so far:

What you want to know
Gameplay (overall quality, strategy, teamwork, make/break agreements, suicide, create chaotic game)
How often they miss turns and/or deadbeat
In-game behavior (conversation, attitude, made game fun, abusive)
Suspected cheater

How you want to know it
Ranking/Rating system
Individual scores for specific criteria
Comments on specific criteria
YES or NO option on 'would you play them again'
Check list of specific criteria
Tell at a glance I don't want to play this person

How you want to be able to leave it
Ease of use (no long forms)
Free speech, Ability to leave jokes
Write the way we talk in real life
Don't allow stupid feedback
Focus feedback for critiques of players who deserve exceptional praise or shame.
Time delay on making feedback viewable

How you want to dispute it
Clear, published guidelines that are the same for every player
Fast response
Analyse both negs and the game and see what applies what doesn’t
No moderation of comments

to be able to tell someone what happened in the game in relation to these key things
-strategy
-time taken (deadbeating etc)
-language/general conversation
-overall quality of player (is he good or shit)

but to have firm standings on how it is moderated. ie not factual stuff.
sometimes it is factual. the mod just hasnt look hard enuf (no offence. i think u do a good job)
and the whole retalitory thing that came up yesterday. even if someone leaves a neg first to be able to analyse both negs and the game and see what applies what doesnt

Feedback should be free speach. Although no harassment and no untrue things, kinda obvious :P

I like the feedback system, play the game to the best of your ability and speak to people in a manner in which you would want to be spoken to yourself and you'll have no problem.

What I want from feedback:
1) Is to know if they are total arses or not
2) Suspected of cheating
3) See if they are total arses or not (by e.g. checking to see if they employ certain 'strategy's, language, and prone to agreements, or breaking them)

Its double, but its what I check for..

take off the moderating of feedback comments. that's all.

Feedback that can be categorized into different areas. Such as...

1. Feedback that describes a players general gameplay abiltites.
A. Strategies
B. Teamwork

2. Feedback that describes general attitudes in game chat etc.
A. Good attitude, friendly, helpful etc.
B. Irritating, annoying etc.
C. Silent

Hopefully you get the idea here. There is too much ambiguiity in the current system especially when it concerns feedback that is gameplay related, retaliatory, or trivial.

Oh and don't allow stupid feedback like this:

or

http://www.conquerclub.com/player.php?p ... e=TheTrees

It just looks like general chat! :)

You know at first I wanted to say "YES" then I realized that this was how you wanted the comments to be not about the feedback system itself.

  • Move things away from text and onto selectable options; strategy, teammate, social, etc. That way we can keep the text concise and to the point.
  • Better guidelines to focus feedback for critiques of players who deserve exceptional praise or shame.
  • A ranking system of sorts. Those who are ranked high by their peers will have a stronger ranking on the comments they leave in return. Thus promoting a civil atmosphere and less using the feedback system as retaliation.

my powerpoint presentation will be ready by next Friday

I would like to see the rules and regulations on why feedback is permitted to stay or be deleted. Im sure this info is on a private forum I dont have access too.

Basically, feedback should be a way that we can know things about our opponents/teammates that we want to know. The sort of things that I, personally, want to know, are:
  • how often they miss turns
  • how good of a strategist they are
  • if they have a tendency to do things like suicide, or in general act as a force of chaos in the game.
  • if they are friendly in chat (good), or belligerent and annoying in chat (bad)

but I'm sure that there are other things that many players would like to know, and all of those things should be part of feedback as well.

Stop moderating feedback completely.

Leaving dull, mundane feedback describing how somebody was as an opponent is all well and good, but it gets kind of boring. I'm sick of being told that my feedback isn't game-related enough and has to go... If I want to leave my homeboys comic feedback, then why should mods stop me?

  • Basically I'd much rather have a system where I'm permitted to leave hilarious joke-feedbacks for my cronies.
  • If players whinge "That makes it hard for us to see what kind of player you are", then just don't play people who have interesting feedback (and senses of humour).
  • Feedback ought not be straight-jacketed by arbitrary retarded rules, let us regulate ourselves and leave what the hell we like.
  • People take feedback way to seriously; I'm at a loss as to why they give so much of a toss if they get unwanted joke/negative responses.

Over-regulating feedback makes it dull and uninteresting, leave it to grow wild and it will soon bear the fruits of beautiful comedy. It will also save the mods a lot of time, which they can use to catch real criminals like Multis and Nazi War Criminals.

you should be promted to rater the player out of 5 starts on each of the above criteria, then the player gets an average rating for all of them next to his name, and if you then click onto his feedback 'score' you can see the individual scores for each of the criteria. Scrap the comments part just do the ratings

I would like guidelines that are the same for every player.

a) get rid of it altogether

b) a simple YES or NO option on 'would you play them again' something like that

or

c) just dont moderate it. everyone gets to say their piece. simple.

Lol, thats exactly the same idea that i was thinking about. Even down to the 5 stars  . The only difference i had in my head was the comments part. I think there should still be comments, but it should be a sub-division that would be seen along with the strategy, turns missed and chat ratings.

you just summed up your entire tenure as a mod and explained about 90% of your decisions...

however, i find the feedback system to work, because i'm only a jackass in the forums and not in my games. i don't leave negative feedback, because i think it has to be something monumental to do such... -0

Get rid of it! IF you play someone and determine that you do not wish to play again for whatever reason, wah lah, IGNORE LIST! You will not have to deal with a particular player again. Easy fix!

But if they are an absolute tosser, as some are, why not do everyone a favour and ensure they all know?
