Reversing a bad losing streak....

I recently joined CC and started off winning about 70% of my games and reached a score of about 1630 after less than two weeks and about 60 games.

The last few days though I haven't won a game - I've lost and many cases without even a chance. I've lost over 250 points. At first I thought it was just bad dice - and let me tell you I've had some horrifically bad rolls.

But I also wonder now if I am playing against better opponents and my strategy is flawed. For example - am I being overly aggressive or not aggressive. I've tried different things...and first turn doesn't seem to matter.

If I go first, even taking one territory - I seem to get destroyed by my opponents second drop after I lose too many armies taking out a 3. Maybe I get greed sometimes if i don't lose armies and try to take another.

If I go second, i find myself behind in armies bonused from the get-go and cant seem to catch up.

Thought?

Probably not what you want to hear, but....

Shit happens. Streaks come and go. 250 points is nothing for a losing streak. I've lost close to 800 in a couple days, and other people have had much, much worse.

Try playing a different style of game, or go back to a familiar style, if you've recently started playing something new.

I agree with Timmiz above, it happens. I was a major a couple of months ago and am being smashed recently, both attacking and defending.

For the record, I dont like you KoE_sirius lol, wining that 65 vs 80 lol

^^ see :(
MY rank sucks now

Speaking from experience once one hits major it becomes harder to advance, at least playing solo. Team play its different as most teams farm to one extent or another.

In the beginning you don't have much to lose point wise and everything to gain. as you advance up the ladder you run into players with more and more experience. It amazes me how many 2 stripes, 3 stripes and other enlisted who have a thousand plus games under their belt.

I tend to play escalating games of either standard or terminator type. It eliminates the need for alliances and all the other bs that ensues. The School for Cooks helped my game a lot but what happens with that is more and more folks are learning to play with less stupidity. When I play as a major in a terminator game and lose to a cook or enlisted It makes a dent in my points.

Welcome to the CC treadmill. Learn it and Love It.

It's so frustrating. I have learned there are vulture type players who are extremely good at one map and if you play them they just know exactly what to do to beat someone unfamiliar with the map. So I have lost a bit of points on those. And then there are people who do irrational things like attack me because they said they have no hope of winning so they figure they might as well go for a kill even if they don't have a chance of doing so. I went from being ahead in the game to being severely weakened while my opponent went from weak to dominating.

Just sucks really. Wish there was a way to play with guys who had a sense of I don't know...just a sense of competitive fair play and played intelligently.

In the Callouts forum, there are threads with private games for players above certain ranks. They're not a guarantee, but they do tend to ensure a certain level of play, that you won't always find in public games. Also, something I found to work for this, is when you play against someone who played well in your opinion, add them to your friend list. Once you've built up a good sized list of 'friends' you can start your own private games, and invite people who you already know to be decent players.

manny killer,

It's all in your game selection. Certain game types will hold you down and not allow you to rise past a certain threshold. Moreover, at only some 150 games played, you have a lot to learn yet. If you want to maximize your points while learning a legitimate game style, stay away from luck based flat rate and no card games and play escalating. There are about 5 really good escalating strategy threads in the strategy sub-forum. Even consider finding a mentor to teach you. Learn escalating and you can easily maintain 2,000 points and more.

if u happen to be having a run where u lose every game, then either don't start new games for a while or play doubles so that u can share some of ur partner's better luck! in existing multi-player games, do the minimum attacking possible till ur luck has turned.

I have the same problem. I am on a HORRIFIC losing streak.

I was a steady lieutenant occasionally popping up to Captain with a win percentage of 30%. Now I'm down a freaking Private 1st Class with a win percentage of 28%!

I guess I'm going to let all my current games expire then start up a whole new batch of games and try to get back up to my respectable rank.

I love this guy. Amen to everything he said here. Totally agree.

One thing to add, auto attack, even if you fail, its fun : )

Quite right. Once I encounter a good player I tend to send them a quick note and add them to my friends list for future games.

Not sure how many do this, but the benefits are obvious. I have a good 30 players listed (who also made up the bulk of my new clan), and play with a combination of those guys for most games.

I ran onto the same problem a while back. I think that I have been lucky, though because I play mostly tourney games, and usually there is a fair amount of competition, even outside the games themselves. I have also used the Callouts forum, but it never occurred to me to add those that I had good games with to my friend list... probably because I don't use my foe list at all, actually.

That said Manny, I just added you, and if ever you'd like one of those competitive, intelligent games you mentioned, please pm me, I'm always up for a good game.

Good luck with your streak. :)
