Family and friends.
Hi... I thought I'd ask about playing with my family here.
I'm Theresa, (Selucid Empire) and my sister (I'll let her give her name if she wants to) have played risk a few times in school and with friends on a few friday nights and holidays and time off school but a friend of ours told us about this site and said it would be perfect for us because it saved our moves. He said we could move whenever we wanted within a 24 hour period, the board didn't have to be set up and there was never a sore loser who could sneeze and send the pieces flying clear off the board forcing everyone to start over lol.
So I thought I'd ask / announce here that myself and my sister are joining, I've spent the last half-hour-ish reading over the strategy page. The reason I'm bringing this up here is that I've never played a team game before. The only games I've ever played were "everyone for themselves" games. With my sister getting an account here and stuff we might play some team games if we get interested in them but for now I just want to play some standard games.
I just figured I should get feedback here because I've read a cheating and abuse thread to see what was considered cheating and I wanted to clear the air ahead of time. So just so I understand...
If I play a game against my sister and others:
1) If I engage in a truce with her or someone else there is a place in game chat to announce it.
2) If I make a proposition to my sister against a game leader or an immediate threat, I have to discuss everything in this "game chat" and get her response in the game chat so that everyone knows the diplomacy that is going on as though we were all playing in a room together.
3) The moves I make are to help me... I don't make moves to help my sister win and I don't make moves to cripple my sister like some family feud. I do what I can do to win. (I mainly ask this because I would want to be upfront. I would announce that myself and my sister are in a game together and in making that announcement, I wouldn't want people to say: "Well... you have to attack her now or you're a cheater" or "If you attack me instead of her... you're a cheater.") So as much as announcing the family ties at the beginning might convince others to team against us anyway out of skepticism, I'd choose that over people thinking: "why did they hide that they were family?" so if we play together, we'll announce in chat that that we are sisters and see where the game goes from there.
Is that enough or is there more I should do? I think this falls under the rules... no multiple accounts and no secret alliances. I don't take "no secret alliances" to mean "no alliances". If I want to negociate a deal with someone to help my positioning, I can try it... as long as everyone sees me make the offer is that it?
Thanks.
