Cold dice?

A teamate told me a strange excuse for not attacking a enemy pileup that has now probably destroyed our chances of winning. (some other stupid moves contributed to this too, but that is OT)

This is what s/he said
nkholley [team]: haven't you noticed that my dice are cold. If you read the info about the game it will tell you that the game randomly chooses a play or location for this to happen to.
nkholley [team]: If you were watching you would note that the location you fronted me on was losing each time.

Now this sounds like absolute gibberish to me. But I wanted to make sure. Is there anything to Nkholleys words? I know I have experiences attacks spectacularly failing consistently on a spot before.

superstition, rumor and hearsay  I'm sure there are no facts to back up what he has said.

Complete, and utter nonsense. I'd suggest not playing on that guy's team anymore.

On a maybe somewhat kinda slightly related topic, does the game 'weight' dice throws according to some kind of 'morale' factor or based on relative size of attacking force? I ask because in one of my games I've been launching desperate attacks to try to slow down one player (who's going to win anyway). Attacks like 6 attacking armies against 10 defenders.

In this kind of situation in tabletop Risk I'd expect to lose such an attack 99 per cent of the time, but might reasonably hope to take 1, 2 or maybe even 3 off the defender before being wiped out. But I completely lose every roll of the dice, and all my armies die without doing him any damage.

Not quite true: I just managed to take 1 army off him in my third or fourth consecutive attempt.

I recall reading something in the rules that sounded as if it was saying something about rolls being weighted according to 'dynamics' or some such, but it wasn't well worded and I didn't understand. Can someone please explain?

Thanks!

No, it's true. If you take notice, you'll see it's always the 13th territory when listed alphabetically.

If there is, then it is a extremely well kept secret. I seriously doubt it when a single chews up a army of 10 or more attackers (I have personally experienced it with 5, but someone else said they had it happen with like 20-30 or something)

Yeah, I played a speed game once where my partner auto'd something like 23 v 1, and came out with a 4. It was somewhat devastating for us lol. So yes, it does, happen, but that's the only time I've seen it happen that bad.

Really, it's just a case of human beings recognising certain patterns. For instance, in the past 2 days, I know I've rolled 0-2 5 times starting large battles twice. I remember that clearly. But I'll be damned if I know how many times I've rolled 2-0/0-2/2-0/0-2/2-0, even though that's a distinct pattern of the same length. Also I noticed today in one particular battle I rolled 1-1 8 times in a row, something that happens 1 in 6000 times. But I don't know how many times I've rolled 1-1/2-0/1-1/0-2 twice in a row - that results in the same amount of troops lost on both sides.
